Overall good value. Not too expensive, even with charge for dogs. A bit noisy as most pubs. But you get the rickety old

Could hear bottles clinking a lot during the night. Some rowdy men woke me up once. Bed was comfortable. Shower was nice and hot too. I did have to fix the pump on the shower gel though. Tea didn’t taste right, think it’s the water but not sure. Got one from the pub instead.

Loved the location - the car park is massive. Pet friendly. Being in a pub means finding food is very easy. Staff were lovely too. Can use the back gate when pub is shut. Biscuits were lovely.

Lovely location, and a clean and comfortable room. Staff were friendly, checking we had eaten after a long drive and giving us recommendations for breakfast.

The only drawback for us was the noise from the room next door. I'm not sure they were aware we could her every word if their tv till 1.30 am

The staff were about to close the pub as it was ten to 11 but cheerfully stayed on to book us in after a dreadful journey to get there . Lovely women showed us to our room and ws most helpful. Very old building and very beautiful. Beds really comfortable..massive shower. Plenty of tea and coffee and irong board and massive TV.

Nothing really to dislike that would make me not want to stay there again. The building is lovely and oldy worldy. A small tickle up decor wise to the bathrooms would be my only suggestion as they are a little dated. Other than that all is ok

Its in an excellant location, close to the West Pennine Moors. Atmosphere has a lovely friendly local village feel. Plenty of parking and food fantastic. Victoria, pub manager was welcoming and even waited up late for us to arrive last year when we travelled up from London in the evening. We explained we had been caught in traffic and she was lovely about it. Nik even handed out yellow tulips to ladies on Mothers Day. This was the purpose of our visit. To spend Mothers day with my son who lives in Bolton.

That we unable to eat in the restaurant in the evening because the kitchen shut early. We've stayed there several times before and had a good stay.

Room needed a good vacuuming and bathroom floor could have been a bit cleaner. A little on the expensive side as could get breakfast included for a similar rice in other establishments. Overall good homely place, with no frills.

From the welcome i received to the service and booking in, and then my time in the bar, i loved everything about the Black Dog Inn. Other guests at the pub were awesome too, and it is pet friendly.

The rooms are a little outdated, but this is to be expected for a 1700 building. The history of the place outweighs the rooms being slightly outdated.

The local of the pub is brilliant and the food is of a very high standard. Car parking is free and the beds are super comfy.

£15 for a dog was quite expensive and wasnt stated anywhere how much the extra charge for the dog would be. - she makes less mess than a child.

The room was in an annexe. When the pub itself was locked out of hours, I had to exit and enter the building through an area of commercial refuse bins - the area was tidy enough but the smell not so good. The room smelled damp when I first walked in - the heater did make a difference to that once it was turned on.

The pub itself was very quaint the food good. The room was very quiet. The independent convector heater was effective. The bed was very comfortable and the bed linen was very nice.

Black out curtains would be a great upgrade and a curtain over the top window as light shines in to TV.
