How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Great guesthouse with such friendly hosts. Trish and Mel text us before we got there wishing us a safe journey. On arrival, they were very welcoming and knowledgeable as well as providing a delicious cooked breakfast in the mornings along with cereals and toast too. The location was perfect being able to walk to the seafront in a couple of minutes and then one way to the centre and the other way to Sealife, Sandworld and Lodmoor. Our room worked well for us with a double and two singles all very clean and loved the fridge with fresh milk and the games in the room to keep us entertained. USB and USB-C plug sockets were also really useful. We are definitely planning to come back.

Very hard to find a fault!
Absolutely beautiful hosts. Mel and Trish were so fabulous, knowledgeable and kind. Went above and beyond to assist and make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The breakfast was delicious and felt like home. Fabulous location with a very short walk up to the main Esplanade with plenty of options for meals.

Very welcoming on our arrival. The room was spacious, clean and had everything we needed, from a fridge and hairdryer. The dining room was lovely, with a homely feel and Trish couldn’t do enough for us.

Mel & Trish are extremely welcoming! They made me & my partner both feel very welcomed & comfortable. Our room was beautifully decorated and very well thought through. We had everything we needed. Lennox street (the road calm sea B&B) is located was very quiet, no road noise or disturbances. Having a mini fridge in the room was a lovely surprise, in the summer months it would be very well needed 😌 Our breakfast was lush! Offering pancakes on the menu was a great choice & they were delicious. From check in to check out everything was lush!

If I had to be fussy and say something, I would mention the bathroom tiles (by the sink) could have had a better quality of finish and the plug sockets were old fashioned ones. But they are just very minimal details.
The hosts were very attentive, they remembered the reason for our visit and asked about it in the morning. They gave my friend a gift as it was her birthday which was a wonderful touch! The breakfast was very high quality and the location was very handy for the main town.

Beautifully decorated throughout with a warm, cosy feel. Immaculately clean. Location was perfect! The bed was soooo comfortable. Nice touches such as fluffy throws and fresh milk in room. The hosts, Mel and Trish were superb from start to finish. They even put a bottle of Prosecco in the room as we were celebrating my husbands birthday. Perfect hosts. Can’t wait to go back.

Nothing about the B&B at all, only thing is the parking restrictions (max 1 hour) Not the fault of the owners, and they have a permit for parking in a car park nearby, but it should be noted for those with mobility issues (as I believe it may say on street parking in the advert, but happy to be wrong!)
The owners were absolutely lovely and made us feel very welcome, and went over and above when it came to our booking!!! Breakfast was absolutely fabulous and the room was exactly what was needed! Even down to the cold drinks and snacks in reception, absolutely perfect!

The only issue is that there is no nearby parking, however they will give you a free permit for a carpark, a few minutes walk away
Trish and Mel really made us feel welcome. They have a great B&B. Clean and quiet room, with a great breakfast. Nothing seemed too much trouble.

Nothing to fault, everything was great.
What a great find this B&B was for our weekend away! We all loved staying here! Mel & Trish are the best hosts, they gave us so many recommendations for food and places to go and visit and they are so welcoming, they went above and beyond to gift prosecco, glasses and b'day banner to us all for the birthday girl. The bedrooms were decorated lovely, comfy beds with huge soft blankets in each room and a mini fridge for Milk as a finishing touch. The breakfasts were great and they couldn't do enough to make sure we all had the best stay. We will be coming back here and would recommend to anyone who would like a getaway to Weymouth.

Absolutely no negatives whatsoever. 100 percent perfect.
Beautifully furnished, excellent location, brilliant and friendly owners and amazing breakfasts. First time staying at The Calm Sea Guesthouse and I can't recommend this place highly enough and look forward to returning in the future.
