How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Maybe a bit far to walk to the pub - but we got a taxi without any problem
A great cottage just right for my mum and I visiting Bristol and Yate. Comfy beds and great shower - very clean

Some noise from the motorway but it didn’t disturb my sleep.
One of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in! Good sized accommodation for one or two people. Plenty of crockery etc in the kitchen area. Underfloor heating was nice.

The location, on a farm, is hard to find especially in the dark. It would help to have better lighting at the gate. There is track lighting into the property, but it's rather slow to start. Due to the problems with the local bridge over the M4 the access road is now a busy rat run at peak times. However the property is positioned so you can get access to Yate and North Bristol relatively quickly.
The apartments are well appointed and clean, for two people they are very comfortable. It's more of a push for three or more. There is a folding bed which is good, but regulations need invasive exit signs which can be a distraction in the kitchen living room area. The toilet and show are good, plenty of water from the shower head. Parking is directly in front of the apartment. Sound insulation is good and the buildings are warm and dry.

A different lamp in the living room would be good and a cafetiere... But that's being picky!
The apartment was immaculate. Cosy, warm and welcoming when we arrived. Very spacious. Nice kitchen with everything we needed.. cookies and hot chocolate too! Huge comfortable bed with masses of wardrobe space and a TV. Bathroom was great too. Good shower, very hot water and underfloor heating throughout. . Nothing to not like. Perfect location for our needs just off the M4 near Bristol. We were travelling to South Wales so a short journey for us. Great to have a parking space too. Very reasonably priced.

Neither of us liked the feather pillows or duvets but thankfully found another duvet in the wardrobe. The glass in the front door was smeared. We would have appreciated a local map of footpaths.
We appreciated the tea, coffee, biscuits etc and all the facilities offered. Beds comfortable.

The bedroom got bright in the mornings, even with the curtains shut, making it hard for me to sleep in. It's also harder to reach on public transport as some of the main roads don't have footpaths. Honestly that's the only downsides, it's a beautiful place to stay.
A wonderful cottage. Like a little home from home. It's in a beautiful location and only a short drive to Bristol. Heating was a bonus (we visited in winter) it felt very private and I felt safe as a group of two younger girls.

The cottages are finished to a really high quality, beautiful walk in shower. Tea, coffee sugar, hot chocolate and biscuits were available on arrival. Easy parking.

Really spacious and finished with modern fixtures and fittings. Very nice countryside around, particularly is you fancy a run. Good location for work and getting on the M4.

Emergency exit signs are highly disturbing for sleepers in the lounge area. It would be best if they were only on when a fire alarm sounds. Some noise from M4.
Modern and well appointed rooms, nice shower, good kitchen. Parking is good. Beds are comfortable and the folding bed is easy to open.

No view. Website pictures misleading. Emergency exit lighting made it very difficult for person sleeping on sofa bed to sleep.

Smaller shower head was broken, wasn’t as clean as last time we stayed, bit overpriced for the location
