This is 2024. NOT having daily room service (the making of beds. changing of towels and soap, shampoo, etc., not emptying wastebaskets) except by request due to "Covid" is ridiculous! We have encountered this excuse in NO other properties in the last two years.

The property was wonderful...GORGEOUS! The pub and food were lovely. Personnel welcoming.

No lift to the upper floor

Fantastic location midway between Windermere and Ambleside with access to the lake. The staff were very helpful.

The room was not as pictured. The bathroom was so small you couldn’t enjoy your bath. The so called great breakfast was expensive and the continental breakfast was also expensive and of very mediocre quality.

The views from the property were spectacular.

There was nothing not to like or find fault with.

This was my second time at this hotel and it did not disappoint me at all. The service, location, views, room size and cleanliness were exceptional. The staff are so helpful and go above and beyond to cater to your needs. The hotel is set in a beautiful location overlooking the lake, giving you private access to the lake. The grounds are kept beautifully manicured with an abundance of colourful flora.

The setting is stunning, we saw several deer in the garden from the terrace. Staff all helpful & friendly but not intrusive. Breakfast choices were superb. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Will be back.

My pillows was not comfortable, not the best view. Couldn't book for longer due to a wedding-pity.

Lovely, traditional Lake District hotel, set in immaculate grounds with paths alongside Lake Windermere. A really warm welcome from happy, friendly staff who can't do enough for you. Beautiful spotless room, tasty hot breakfast with lots of choices. There's nothing to not like about this gem! My little dog was made very welcome and was provided with treat box containing a ball, poop bags and a tub of treats which he loved. The treats contained ingredients to aid relaxation at bedtime - so thoughtful! Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Lovely room with beautiful views. Hotel is in a very scenic setting and staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay, always going above and beyond to make our stay special. The breakfast was very nice with plenty of choice and the lounge and bar are nice to use in an evening.

Food was limited and the quality was disappointing. Dinner on a Sunday night was limited to a bar snack or a five course dinner . Some proper choice would have been nice

There was nothing to dislike about my comfortable stay because it was so well priced with no hidden surprises.

Beautiful hotel and well kept gardens and grounds with views over Lake Windermere. Good food served on an evening and then cooked and continental breakfast. Cosy, well stocked bar on an evening with lovely furnishings and a real log fire with leather and velvet seating. Reception area comfortable lounge to read the daily newspapers after breakfast. Then a walk down to the lake from the grounds. Staff approachable, professional and kind. Spacious, warm and clean room with beautiful view. Would love to stay again and enjoy the outdoor seating area overlooking the lake when the weather improves. Dog friendly but mindful of other guests.

Didn’t like the interconnecting door to the room next door , we could hear conversations that were being had in the room next door

The hotel as a whole , the location was brilliant right by the lake , the view from our room was lovely with views of the lake , the cleanliness was of a very high standard , the breakfast was lovely , friendly staff .
