Quite slow service at dinner even though it wasn't busy.

I would have liked net curtains at the window as our room was right next to the main path to Reception so we had to close the curtains for privacy.

The hotel and our room were spotlessly clean. Staff members were absolutely great, helpful, friendly and easy to find. We took our dog and there was a lovely field just across from the hotel where he could run about. He was allowed into the bar and sat under our table for meals and was even offered a sausage at breakfast! Water bowls were provided and dog owners and non-dog owners were settled in different parts of the dining area so if you don't like dogs, you don't have to be anywhere near them. Great for each sort of guest. Roanhead beach is a short drive from the hotel and offers miles of sand dunes and walking, great for dog owners and walkers alike. The food was excellent. Breakfast was served on Saturday and a buffet on Sunday. Both were great. We had dinner there two evenings and all our choices were delicious. We usually stay with family but if we need a hotel again, we will certainly choose The Dunes Hotel.

Not a lot to do on the actual hotel grounds, need to drive to find things nearby

Gorgeous little hotel, went for a walk down the nature reserve which is close by, that was lovely on the evening. Evening meal and breakfast was delicious and staff were very helpful and friendly

Rooms could do with a little more flare with some wall pictures and trendier furnishings etc but otherwise the place was very clean and tidy.

Nice little location in between Ulverston and Barrow. Nice restaurant downstairs, prices not too bad. Staff attentive and pleasant. Room was comfortable, clean, warm and quiet. Would recommend for a stay close to the beach and to the Lake District.

The bathroom in the room looked like it hadn't been touched in 40 years and the TV was too small to the point the TV guide on the TV couldn't be read while lay in the bed it was that small

Unfortunately the bar staff where none existent. You had to search for them when wanting a drink. Several customers & ourselves tried to enquire at reception & again not there. When eventually getting served, I ask what time reception close as it is not 24 hrs. This happened the entire night, as soon a s a guest found them, got served, they disappeared again. Later I overheard staff while I went to the toilet slagging me off as they considered me stupid asking what time reception closed amongst other things. The lack of receptionist from 9pm to 9am made us feel insecure in a remote location. A real shame as prior to using the bar, & the rude staff I would have scored a 9 or 10

The hotel was cosy, a nice bar / resaraunt

The room was dated. The bed very hard with flat pillows. No hairdryer and the iron board was so small we couldn’t iron on it. The radiators not working so had to get a heater. We had to call someone for that as there is no reception at night. No glasses in the room. Broken plug that wouldn’t drain. Breeze coming through the window. Really not worth the money we spent sorry. Wasn’t asked about our stay otherwise I would have mentioned it to the staff.

The bar and restaurant was lovely

LOCATION I PERSONALLY FEEL LETS THE HOTEL DOWN AS IT IS SOMEWHAT REMOTE. I DID HOPE TO WALK INTO DALTON FOR A PINT, TOO FAR AND NO STREET LIGHTING. THE ROOM I STAYED IN HAD A VERY POOR VIEW OF STAFF CARPARK/LANDFILL.

FOOD IN GENERAL WAS VERY GOOD. THE GROUNDS ARE LOVELY, IDEAL FOR SUMMER WEDDINGS. THE STAFF WORK VERY HARD AND SHOULD BE PRAISED.

The guests upstairs above our room were very nosey, a lot of banging. Other than that no other problems.

Clean and comfortable. The dining area was beautiful.
