How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Really, liked it all. I wish there was a good map of Edinburgh at the apartments. There is a little booklet on Edinburgh in the rack and that had the only map we ever found in a week of looking - ha!
Liked the location, having a washer and dryer and kitchen. Staff was very friendly and kind. Lots of restaurants and shops, bus stops, etc.

Housekeeping could have been more thorough, and the mattress was quite worn down, so sleeping for 2 was not ideal.
The kitchen was equipped quite well and the condition of the pans etc. was good.

Because there were so many restaurants (and bars), it was noisy in the street at bar closing time.
Facility was very clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Good location - many stores and restaurants very nearby.

Braid apartments really made our long weekend in Edinburgh a great stay! Great communication before arriving and arranging a slightly early check in so we could work after the cleaners had done our room. Throughout the 6 days the reception went above and beyond to give us information, make sure we were happy, provide extra towels, arrange cleaning etc. We loved the room and it was large enough for two people to work remotely for a couple of days. The location is outstanging, right in the middle of all the best cafes, restaurants and only 15 minute walk to the castle.

The soundproofing of the room is not very good. You hear the sewer running and the footsteps upstairs. It's okay. It doesn't affect your rest。
The location is excellent. Convenient travel。The staff is very friendly. Easy to stay. It's very quiet around, so you can have a good rest。There are many good restaurants around

Would have liked an earlier check in time. Fortunately being able to leave luggage at the apartment was helpful.
The location of course is excellent. The facilities great. Thé star of the show however was the amazing receptionist Orpheus who went the extra mile for us. We were welcomed with a smile and made to feel comfortable. There was a minor setback when we arrived which he apologised for, but he sorted it out efficiently and quickly. He is a real asset to your company. We will certainly recommend Braid apartments to our friends when visiting Edinburgh.

Great location easy to get around Edinburgh & visited the National Portrait gallery. Fantast food in the area. Apartment was exceptional, I'll definatley be booking this again, great night sleep all amenities for selcatering with wide selection of Tea's coffee etc. Fantastic apartment, I highly recommend !

The staff was amazing, very kind and helpful. The apartment was very clean, spacious, with nice furnishings. The location is amazing, in the city centre and at the same time in a very calm street. There is a great coffee shop a minute walk from the apartment, where we got our coffee and breakfast every morning. The building is nice from the inside and outside architecture.

The washing machine didn't work too great... one of those wash and dry in one machine and it didn't dry our clothes. I recommend just hanging once you wash. Outside of that- no complaints!

Really spacious. A lot bigger than I expected. So many facilities. Staff were nice. Good location near many attractions, nice view from the window. No complaints whatsoever. Definitely worth the price. Close to lots of restaurants

When the toilet is flushed or the air conditioner is on, or the shower is running, there’s loud thumping and strange noises that happen in the walls.

Outside space would be nice in warmer months.
