Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United KingdomI wasn't happy with the excessive number of emails from Host & Stay both before and after my stay. Many of them were simply repeats providing details of my booking. Otherwise, the only slight issue was one of the light bulbs in the loo needs replacing (flickering).

United KingdomThere was a really bad smell in the bathroom that seeped throughout the rest of the rooms. Figured it was the drains so, called and was recommended to use airfreshner (not ideal) and they would send someone out the next day. However, we were celebrating our anniversary so didn't want any intrusions, so we asked if we could cancel the visit. Staff more than happy for this. Luckily the smell disappeared the more we used the water. Parking - not the best, but given it is a zoned area, we understood. There was actually a full parking permit in the apartment as well as a disc for use. So, I didn't need to use a carpark. Bonus!
The apartment was beautiful! Humogous tv and access to Netflix and prime was great! Location was right in the middle of Harrogate! Would definitely stay again and being able to bring our two dogs made it even better :)

Easy access to the apartment and managed to park just up the road in Park View carpark. Wouldn't hesitate to book again and recommend to family and friends.

United KingdomTo park outside you do need a disc, which isn't immediately obvious, however there is a car park about 2 mins walk away which we used for the week. The property did get very hot on sunny days, to be fair though we did stay during a heat wave! Wifi is in a basket under a cabinet, if you don't pull it out from it's tucked away place then it doesn't work in the bedroom.
Really lovely , well presented property with everything we needed for our visit. Amazing shower!! Very comfy bed. Handy for walking into town and to some great restaurants, with Asda just round the corner for groceries.

New ZealandFeeling ripped off when an out of the blue extra charge was imposed of 30 euros for verification after I had paid the full non-refundable charge from Booking.Com which clearly stated there would be no extra charges. The charge made was daylight robbery. I have made a complaint to Booking.com

United KingdomWe were given incorrect code for key safe. It took a long time to reach anyone to find the correct code. Initially I spoke to a management office who said they would have to speak to cleaner to work out what code i should have been given, when I asked how long this would take (to see if I should wait or go and get a coffee) I was told "it'll take longer if you're keeping me on the phone". Correct code was sorted out. It was also of concern that 2 key safes for x2 flats were using the same pin code as we were able to open both once we had the correct code. While the keys were labelled so we knew which was which, there easily could have been an error here inadvertent or otherwise. There were no instructions with the parking permit. While it may have been obvious to a local we didn't know where we could park. Fortunately we were able to ask a local resident but this wasn't ideal. Generally clean and tidy but bedroom was very dusty. Mattress had seen better days meaning we both kept rolling into the middle. I also do not like being hounded for a review. Obviously you usually get automatic prompts from booking.com to review but as well as this have received several email prompts from management company AND a phonecall from the owner asking us to review with a follow up email with loads of requests for reviews. While I understand why a review might be sought, assume no news is good news and that not everyone will review you!

United StatesThe apartment was NOT clean upon check-in. We found hair from the previous guests in almost every room and every drawer in the kitchen. The kitchen counter was sticky and found coffee stains on the trash bins. The blanket that was on the bed had stains. The carpet was not vacuumed throughout the apartment. They obviously did NOT follow their promised Covid-19 cleaning protocol.
Very beautiful apartment, well decorated. Very comfortable bed.
