slight issue at breakfast, took a while to get served with drinks, did not clear tables quickly. Not had this problem before, maybe a bit short staffed.

Dinner in the bar was ok but we all had fish and chips and that was nothing special with the chips being a little overdone.

Reception staff efficient and welcoming. Breakfast excellent - pleasant dining room, good food well cooked, good staff. A pot of tea in the lounge also good - a comfortable place for five of us to be able to have a cup of tea and a chat.

This hotel is wonderful, staff lovely and everywhere i n the hotel was immaculately clean. Food was excellent had evening meal and breakfast.Highly recommend, close to road network and the delights of the North Yorks Moors/coast, Stokesley, and Captain Cooks birth place at Great Ayton, Roseberry Topping are on the doorstep.

Lovely property. 15 mins or so on foot from the town centre made it N ideal location. Good walkways to get out and about for some exercise. The hotel was very well kept, comfortable and warm. The staff were attentive and breakfast was very good. No cons.

We had no issues.

Large comfortable room with all facilities. A little cool. Views of the woodland as advertised. Quite a long walk to the room up and down in the lift which made it interesting!? But could put some people off. Good hot breakfast with lots of choice.

Reception staff seemed a little abrasive. Also certain aspects of the room didn’t reflect the price. The bathroom seemed dated with evidence of paint on the floor. Towels were in a poor state, both frayed with holes. Also the room coffee machine didn’t work. When brought to the reception staff attention on check out, didn’t seem interested.

Decor, warmth, historical and unique. Bar and restaurant staff were superb. We only ate breakfast which was flawless.

bed too High and too soft for me as disabled and unable to move once in bed and difficult to get into. Evening meal disappointing. Advised that lamb would be served pink but it was overcooked. The venison was also overcooked and not pink. The dessert was awful. Peaches tasteless and pastry on tarte Tatin only puffed round edges like a vol au vent and hardly any caramel

It took a while to get drinks - tea and coffee for breakfast but it was rather busy. The kettle in the bedroom didn’t work too well but I reported this so hopefully it will be replaced.

I’ve stayed here several times over the last 20 or so years and always enjoy the hotel, the restaurant rooms and area. Rooms are a good size, comfortable beds and sitting area in the bedroom. Staff are very helpful and competent too. The lounge and social areas are attractive with great decor and furnishings. Plenty of parking too. We had introduced my daughter and her husband for a birthday treat and they were equally impressed with the food and the hotel. As usual the breakfast was good but after a good evening meal we weren’t very hungry!! The dog was given a bowl and a few treats- a very nice gesture!
