Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomYour on-suite toilet activities may be a bit embarrasing if you are uncomfortable in front of your partner. However there is the downstairs Living Room, somewhere you can pop too while your other half uses the wc. Also, and this has nothing to do with High Grassings, beware of the local roads - very narrow and your delivery vans will hussle you and zip around the local area at speed. Can be rather intimidating.
Beautiful location with views out over the hills. Nice to wake up in the morning with the sun streaming through the window and seeing the cows and sheep meandering around their fields. High Grassing also have their own peacock strutting its stuff and chickens, which make for entertaining viewing if you get to sit outside. Breakfast in the conservatory is excellent, a range of cereals, fruit, yoghurts and the option to have a full cooked breakfast as well. The bed is very comfortable and provides a good nights sleep. A very modern on suite bathroom, with large walk in shower and a large changing area. Downstairs is a sizeable communal living room with the conservatory leading off. A very pleasant stay and recommended to anyone wanting peace and quiet after a busy day in The Lakes. Ambleside is a 10 minute drive away, plenty of good restaurants or take-aways amongst the many Outdoor Activity Shops.

United KingdomNarrow roads! Fortunately not busy and not too far from Ambleside.
The setting and the views are spectacular. Rolling hills of sheep and cows. The house is surrounded by well tended gardens and there are hens and a peacock. Rooms are of a good size and spotless. The hosts are friendly and amiable. Breakfast is superb.

United StatesOur room faced east, and while it had a gorgeous view, we could have used room darkening blinds for the bright mornings.
The host recommended a 10-mile walk from the property, and it was exceptional! Overall, this was an excellent location for hiking in the area. The host also provided pleasant extras such as a fire in the lounge on a chilly evening. Great breakfast. Good shower. Beautiful setting.

United KingdomIt may have been nice to see some pastries at breakfast, but I still really enjoyed the choice I had. There was nothing else I did not like. I enjoyed my stay and look forward to coming back in the future sometime.
The cooked breakfast was lovely and always well presented. The staff were always on hand in case you wanted any more beverages. The view was beautiful. I could see the mountains from far away and the chickens roaming the grounds. The room was lovely. It had coffee/ tea making facilities along with enough towels etc.

United KingdomAs a B&B for me this was just what I was looking for and there are enough pubs and restaurants not too far away by car for your evening meals. Fortunately the type of guests that would want to book here are probably quieter than the norm so noise from the other rooms is probably at a minimum in this nicely converted house.
Perfect if you like a non generic hotel type stay. Tucked away right along the winding undulating narrow roads this area offers quite near Coniston Water. A great view across the fields with a charming rural ambience matched by friendly non intrusive and considerate hosts. The rooms and guest areas feel very relaxed and homely.

High Grassings Country House is the perfect stay for visiting the Lake District. It’s in a peaceful location close to some beautiful villages and towns. Dave couldn’t have been more welcoming and friendly and gave us so many tips for local eateries, walks and things to do. The views from the bedroom are stunning, the whole place is spotlessly clean and we had a very comfy night sleep. I couldn’t have asked for any more and will definitely visit again! The breakfast was also delicious, thanks so much Dave!
