How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Greeted at reception with a personalised note, as I expected to arrive late. Excellent 'take-away' continental breakfast as I had an early flight.

I was given a key room 8 and was told by the receptionist/Manager that he had to put the heating on as it was a bit cold. on entering the room there was a distinct smell of mould/faustyness in the room. there were cushions and bedding outside the room and the location was down in the basement almost! I complained and was told this was an economy room and if I wanted to change I had to upgrade and pay £10 more which I agreed to. The room on the first floor was great it should have been the one we should have been offered as pictures on my booking depicting this is the type of room I paid £82 per night for. The room was generally clean however there was what we thought was a dead spider in the room above our heads but when we woke at 4 and switched lights on the spider woke and landed on our bed! it didn’t bother me but my partner was a bit startled.

The shower was more gentle than I would have liked. Other folks have complained about the TV screen size but we were out and about too much to even switch it on - which is the whole point of going away for us!
Property was well located for our needs. Room was large and clean. Towels were big and soft. Loves the free toiletries. Niek was a fantastic host - friendly and informative, allowed us to check in early, opened the bar for us, answered all our questions. Breakfast was excellent. The hotel is quirky and much bigger than it seems.

I booked with a group of friends but unfortunately I wasn't able to fly with my flight. But my friends really enjoyed the stay and they told me i missed the experience of staying in such a hotel in Guernsey. So Yeah, I'm reviewing it on behalf of my friends. As per them the staff r really nice and friendly. The facility is clean and very affordable plus the breakfast. It's superb. I can imagine how they really enjoyed their stay. I hope to experience it one day.

The building has character and is cozy as well as comfortable. There’s interesting pictures and Nik naks to muse at. Rosalie and Niek are friendly and welcoming and by the time we’d enjoyed breakfast we decided when we return later in the summer that we’d stay there again.

No complaints but we were a little cold overnight as the duvets were summer weight, but I know that had we mentioned it Niet would have given us another cover. We were grateful to find a property in that location that was open and so accepted that maybe the heating hadn't been on full time.
Niet the proprietor couldn't have been more helpful. Also I think it was his daughter who served breakfast, was very friendly and efficient. We were staying with several other family members for an occasion nearby and the location was perfect, we could walk to the airport (about 10mins) and slightly less for the other two venues. Le Chene is also on the route for the airport bus which goes into town frequently. We would very definitely stay here again.

Decor a little dated but this is being dealt with I believe. Also little thing but would be good to have sign that tells you how to get to ironing room, library and conservatory.
The owner and staff were very friendly and went out of their way to help in anyway they could.

Decoration tired.
