Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

UruguayThe only negative things to comment were that there was water dripping from the corner of the window to the corner of the bed which partly was because of the bad weather that was hitting the whole isle of Skye and brought strong winds and rain and that we couldn’t manage to use the lock with the key, but wasn’t a problem for us because we arrived late in the night and checked out in the morning. Although the stay was almost perfect, we thought the price is a little bit high for a hut with bathroom outside.
Lovely and cozy stay in a hut in Skye. Perfect with everything essential in it except from bathroom which is at the guest house. very romantic hut. There is a complimentary breakfast to grab a bite and go out fast in the morning which is very useful. Everything about the hut is very neat and fully equipped which the hosts made it fit very comfortable inside the hut. We were able to self check in very late in the night as we were delayed because of weather and the huge amount of activities we had wrongly planned into one day. Would definitely recommend for a short stay.

AustraliaThe bathroom being inside is annoying however we knew that when booking. A bit of a drive back into Portree if you wanted something for dinner as there is no cooking facilities.
The bed was comfortable and the hut was warm throughout the night without the heater or fire on. Free breakfast items provided in the hut each day was appreciated. Great view of the lake.

CanadaHaving to go into the main lodge to the bathroom is inconvient, however we knew that going in, so no complaints. It was an adventure that we will always remember. Met lots of nice people (other guests). Good conversations.
The view was wonderful and David and Lynn were adorable. The common room in the lodge is gorgeous.

IndonesiaThe toilet is 30m from the hut. I know , we've already been told about that. But it still a little bit not comfortable to go to Toilet in midnight especially when the weather was raining.
Cute place. Nice. Clean. So unique. The host was really nice. David was telling everything we need about the hut. We also get compliment like bread, oatmeal, short bread, coffee, water everyday. Everything was so nice. Thanks for welcoming us. PS: wait for the sunset, the view was amazing!

NetherlandsThe arrival was just a bit confusing, but we quickly realized we were in the right place. The host was also quite to point us out in the right direction.
It was a unique experience very close to Portree. The cabin was exactly as shown in the photos and descriptions, with a very nice view of the lake. It is not a cabin in a remote location, but rather it is the only hut next to a guest house. Very nice experience overall! The host was very helpful.

United KingdomThe parking situation was quite difficult at times, especially when returning late on and the car park would be rammed, more clearly marked parking spaces may be handy as some other guests parking wasn't the best which left little room available
The views were amazing with outside seating available to be able to enjoy it. Hut was clean and comfortable. Easy self check in and checkout. We appreciated the breakfast items :)

United KingdomThe main downside was eating arrangements - at the time of our stay, all the restaurants in Portree and the surrounding areas had been fully booked, and a lack of facilities at the Shepards Hut to heat up food made it quite difficult to have a hot meal.
It was very conveniently located, clean and tidy, and was a fun way to spend a few days in Skye.

United KingdomIt would have been great to of had a cooked breakfast choice available rather than the continental one that was on offer. The location is a bit isolated, would have liked a pub within walking distance
The shepherds hut was clean and in good condition, the facilities were great in the main house with a clean shower room and nice living room to relax in.

CanadaMattress was a bit thin for my preference but I’m picky. Bathroom was a bit far for going to bathroom at night, but totally understandable since we wanted the hut. The door banged a bit in the wind, but we were able to fix by putting a wedge in the door.
Very cute little house away from the main building with it’s own parking space. Good privacy. Beautiful view on the water and close to Portree for restaurants as well as close to Fairy Glen for sightseeing!

United KingdomThe only inconvenience is that there is no toilet in the cabin, however this is a short 10 second walk to the main house and there is an umbrella left in the hut for you just incase it rains.
Beautiful little hut, very cosy and comfortable. Complimentary breakfast goodies left for us by Adam and Emily. Beautiful views over the Loch in the morning and we were also treated to a visit from the cows one morning in the field I front of the cabin. There is also a communal lounge I the main house that you are able to use.
