On the night I stayed they were unable to do meals, but that was no great problem as a fish and chip van was parked just outside and you could eat your fish supper in the bar.

Friendly staff, and very affordably priced. As a pub with rooms in a lovely wee village not on a main road there's a nice local feel about it - you're not in the usual 'tourist only' hotel environment. Quiet at night and I slept better than I have in weeks. Good quality sausages and bacon at breakfast.

Being an old building, there was no sound proofing and we could hear other guests even when they were just talking in their room

A lovely old building, sympathetically updated in a beautiful old village

Limited vegetarian options, but very happy there was some. Drinkers at the bar smoking right under the room windows is not ideal, but manageable.

Staff couldn't do enough for us. Lovely old pub in a nice location. Ideal for access to local sights and Berwick Upon Tweed is only 15 minutes drive.

For what we wanted the place was ideal.

The staff were friendly and accommodating, always cheerful. Food was good and served hot. Restaurant was comfortable and clean. Locals friendly and other guests chatty. Not noisy which suited us . Owners were friendly and helpful. No food served on Thursdays but a chip van comes to the village on Thursday and you can get fish and chips and eat them in the bar. Best fish and chips that I have had in years, worth the visit for that alone. The Masons Arms was ideally situated for the places that we wanted to visit.
