Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere was absolutely nothing I did not like about our stay.
A beautiful cottage in rural Cornwall, comfortable beds and just a few miles from Perranporth. A real find- we will definitely be back. Breakfast was fantastic too, and Jenny and her husband were the most perfect, friendly hosts you could wish for.

United KingdomThe only downside was that we could not stay for a much longer period.
The breakfast was very good made from mostly local produce presented and cooked to perfection. The accomodation and toilet facilities were excellent. It was a very quiet and peaceful location and we had a good nights sleep. The surrounding gardens were very nice and the parking was off road and secure.

United KingdomBreakfast was great. I could choose what I want to eat from a list every day. House owner was very kind and friendly. She often asked us if we need anything so we didn’t face any inconvenience during our stay. I also loved every features in the house like furniture and a fireplace. It’s lovely traditional English house! When we come back to Cornwall we’d love to stay this place again.

The property has everything we needed for our short stay in Cornwall. Jenny couldn’t have made us feel more welcome. She cooked a superb breakfast in the morning, was lovely to chat to and gave us a very kind leaving bag of drinks and snacks for our journey home. The property has great off road parking and is just a short journey into St Agnes. Would definitely stay here again

United KingdomSt. Agnes taxis (don't get me started)!
After a highly inauspicious start involving a torrential downpour, an hour long bus journey from Truro (roadworks on the A30), Jen missing her choir practice, a bag left in the porch of the church and St.Agnes taxis failing to turn up on two occasions things improved as quickly as the weather. Jen was a perfect host who cooked a great breakfast and kindly drove us to and from the village on two occasions. We stayed in the twin room: comfortable beds & good wifi. The house is situated an 8 minute drive from St.Agnes and is ideal for people who like rural calm with a bus stop at the end of the road with direct services to Falmouth, Truro, Perranporth and Newquay. The Miners arms pub in the village serves superb food and there were at least 5 other good dinning options in the town. The south west coastal path and beach is a half hour indirect walk away.

GermanyThat we had just a short stay :)
Jenny was a perfect host. We felt very welcome and comfortable from the first second we entered the B&B. We loved the familiar atmosphere with just one guest room and the warm and inspiring chats with Jenny. Nearby is maybe is one of the best pubs with great food which we had during our journey through Cornwall. Do not miss it!

United KingdomNothing. (Quick note for Jenny. You told us on arrival that you had left a message on my answer phone. Sorry, Don't know who you rang but nothing on my answer phone. Regardless, thanks for a lovely stay.)
The term 'hidden gems' is thrown about, especially in touristy areas like Cornwall. Mellowvean however is exactly that. Tucked away down a distant lane is a beautiful property set in beautifully kept grounds. With a very limited amount of guest accommodation it means that the each and every guest gets the personal treatment leading to a wonderful stay in a very pleasant room with comfortable beds. The individually personalised breakfasts were lovely and the little snack bag on departure was a wonderful bonus. I am very happy to say - this property is highly recommended.
