Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe lift was out of order, which is unacceptable when faced with eight flights of steap stairs and suitcases after walking all day. Also, the staff in the morning restaurant and perhaps even the evening one also, could be friendlier and just slightly better at English.
The location, the competitive price, the Indian restaurant was brilliant food.

United KingdomI specifically booked the hotel so I could have a bath. The room did indeed have a bath, however the bathtub did not have a plug so the bath itself was in the event useless as a bath and purely decorative. I phoned reception but understandably perhaps they didn't have a a supply of spare bathplugs at the ready. Also, I don't normally use lifts, but on this occasion I probably would have done, however it was out of action.
Nice large room on the third floor. I realized I had actually stay in the same room before. It's a good size, well specified and with a good comfortable

The location of the Montana Hotel is excellent for the Royal Albert Hall, the underground and numerous museums such as the Natural History Museum. Breakfast was very good and cooked to order. The staff are all very pleasant and smile a lot!

AustraliaFor those who have mobility issues, the hotel is a bit of a challenge. The lift does not work and there are a number of stairs. In one room, there is a step up and down into the bathroom, which can be dangerous at night for those who are older. One night I booked a shared bathroom, which meant walking up stairs in the middle of the night. This is a Victorian hotel, so many of these challenges are to be expected and obvious, if for example, you book a room without ensuite. For those who do not need to worry, these quirky architectural choices are part its charm. However, It would be worth calling ahead for those who have mobility issues.
The location is unbeatable, rooms are clean and cheery, staff is accommodating and continental breakfast is quite good.

United KingdomBooking was offering breakfast in price of room when you pay bit extra (it was continental) however when I booked in confirmation and on the reception desk it was no meal plan applied … very disappointed as I end up paying extra money to the room I have booked with breakfast included
I liked it was really clean, staff were friendly, localised next to the metro in centre London for really good price as compared to other properties

United StatesThe elevator did not work. A staff member explained the piece to fix it was extremely expensive, so they hadn’t fixed it. Seemed like it has been out of order for a long time…they should have alerted guests. Our rooms were on the 3rd and 4th floors with 4 & 6 flights of stairs to each. Not ideal at the end of busy site-seeing and with luggage.
Location was optimal. Rooms were comfortable just outdated. Carpet was not clean.

United Arab EmiratesI have a huge luggage and my room was in 3rd floor. The lift was not working as per the staff so I was worried I am going to take it back and forth. However the staff were very helpful and they helped me carry the luggage to my room and back down when I was about to check out. Thank you.
I love the room although it is smaller than I expected, it was very comfy and clean. Location is very near from tube station so it is accessible to public and can go around tourist spots easily.

IrelandWhat I didn't really like was the fact that the shower head was inside the bathtub and it was high to get into. I believe if it were a person with mobility problems it could be difficult to take a shower.
The room was very large, there was a minibar, kettle, glasses and cups, hairdryer. All these facilities helped our stay to be good. The location is definitely the best part of staying there. It is just a few minutes from the subway, restaurants, pharmacy, cafes and supermarket all on the same street. Access to Hyde Parke and the Natural Museum is very easy to do on foot.

United StatesThe toilet was hard to flush and we wasted a lot of water trying to get it to flush properly. The bathroom air vent was covered with thick dust and the water smelled like sewer gas a lot.
The hotel staff was amazing! They helped us with our luggage and changed our room to one on the ground level as the lift was broken and we couldn’t use the stairs because of elderly travel companions.
