How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

What a fabulous find in Newcastle. Comfortable, clean and spacious bungalow and just a few minutes walk from the promenade, beach, shops and restaurants. Perfect base for exploring the mountains, and had a fabulous food in Brunel’s too.

Toilet was too close to radiatior, as a very tall man was difficult to use

We loved our stay. We were in town for a family party and the property was ideally placed, just a short walk into town. The house was well equipped and very spacious. Very comfortable beds!

We honestly could not fault the house in any way or the location.

More attention to detail in cleaning ie clean under bathroom bins and cupboard doors grubby and sticky. Didnt spoil holiday just cleaned cupboard doors myself.

Only a recommendation: Two single beds not as comfortable as the two double beds. (Fine for children tho). Great to have a cot provided but it would really have needed a mattress. Slats are too hard for baby to sleep on alone. I put the bed throw down on the slats and then put the cot sheet over the top to give some cushioning. Other than that we could not fault Mountain View Bungalow.
Fabulous location. Very clean and well equipped. Homely feel. Both double beds were extremely comfortable. The bed we slept in appeared to be memory foam. Bedding clean and fresh. Had a great night's sleep. Plenty of bedroom storage and hangers for hanging up clothes. Lovely little closed in garden for children to play in. We made use of the washing machine and tumble dryer. Good communication from host. This place is a great find in Newcastle and really made our summer break. We will definitely be returning.

It's difficult to say there was anything we didn't like as such, although the twin bedroom bathroom could do with the toilet seat definitely replaced & shower door made more secure, bit wobbly. This didn't affect our stay and can't wait to return. Many thanks.
Our experience & stay at Mountain View Bungalow was so good we are looking at the calendar to book again. We loved the location,close to all amenities, the bungalow had everything & more what we needed. A very memorable family break. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

There wasn't anything that we didn't like. The only thing we'd say is that we could have used a baking tray or two, but we got by with what was provided so it wasn't an issue.
The location was fantastic. Not only did we have a gorgeous view of the mountains from the back garden we were but five minutes walk from the beach (super bonus for two very excited little boys). Also super close to the town itself so all the shops and all the food. Extra bonus being our date night dinner at the Slieve Donard, we could stagger right home :)
