Rich feeling rooms, nicely done up but still with historic feel. Amazing music room downstairs, felt like we were in Downton Abbey. They also gave us a free suite upgrade which was very nice.

The room was clean and very stylish. The music room was a work of art. The view from the balcony was beautiful. The biggest praise I have is for Nigel (I hope I got his name correct), who served the most amazing breakfast. Possibly the best bread and croissants I've ever eaten.

The room we had didn’t have anywhere to put our toiletries in the bathroom. I’m guessing there will be further improvements along the way because there could be some planters, with attached trellising, to provide some privacy on the balcony.

Fantastic location. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

It would have been lovely to have had a meat or cheese plate to nibble on for supper so we didn't have to venture out again once we got settled in.

Rosie and her partner who was the chef were amazing hosts. When we arrived Rosie was straight out the door with a friendly wave and began to tell us where we were staying and the checkin/out details. We were shown to our room with an AMAZING view and settles in to a lovely gold gilt effect French bed. We were lucky enough to watch the sunset and see the stars out later that night. Breakfast was served in the room where the owners wife practises her singing as she is an opera singer!! What a delight this place is: tranquil and restful in beautiful Wales.

No staff onsite except for the breakfast. I know this is the intention and staff are expensive but a bit of contact would pump up the rating.

Beautiful location in the Dovey valley with superb view north to the hills. We had a spectacular sunset. Quiet and peaceful. The hotel has been refurbished with an Italianate theme - clever use of gold paint and quirky decorations. Great breakfast with good choices.

The price does not reflect the place in its present state but the staff led by Rosie go beyond to help and are obviously learning on a daily basis. It will be brilliant within a month

The property is recently opened and the setting is superb but there are no decent restaurants nearby

The tv didn’t work with the Wi-Fi, smart tvs are a little slow… needs to be looked at, if providing those types of facilities.

Text from Plas Dolguog prior to arrival clearly detailing how to assess house and room and checking for any food allergies. Quick response from them to any questions asked. Plas Dolguog is beautifully decorated throughout with a modern chic feel and our room was clean, comfortable and had a good size balcony with views of the mountains. The shower had a choice of rain shower head and adjustable head and was very easy to use. The dining room has a grand piano in it and the whole place has a touch of quiet elegance with a homely feel. The house itself is old, and has wooden bean details and charming sloping floors. There is a great selection for breakfast and the chef can adapt the menu should you have allergies. I discussed this over text the day before. I recommend trying their own honey.

Nobody to welcome us when we arrived to check in. We had a problem accessing one of the rooms and there was nobody on site to help out. Luckily one of our party is very tech savvi and managed to contact support but as a more elderly person with mobility issues this could have been a big challenge for me. We missed seeing the owners. The shower in the bedroom was lovely but the floor was very slippy when wet- again an issue for those who are less mobile.

Breakfast was delicious and served in an elegant music room complete with grand piano in line with the opera theme. Nigel, the front of house, was very welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the hotel. Lovely, quirky small hotel set in beautiful surroundings with amazing views from the bedroom balconies.

I am amazed to receive a request for a questionnaire on our stay as we did not turn up due to my suffering a health episode. I emailed both Plas Dolguog and booking.com to cancel but never received an acknowledgement from either. I will not be arranging another stay as the lack of personal contact at this hotel is staggering.
