Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe had rain on two days but took the opportunity to visit Haddon Hall and Hardwick Hall on those days which was time well spent. Haddon Hall, in particular, is just a few miles away and well worth a visit.
Rose Cottage was warm, comfortable, well equipped, in a quiet location but with easy access to the Peak District. Middleton itself exceeded expectations with great walks and cycling from the front door. We have an EV and were able to charge at the Grouse and Claret, 75 kW chargers at Rowsley, which is just 5 miles away.

Excellent location, great little village and fantastic little cottage would definitely stay again. Owners were excellent.. very friendly and lovely people. There were eggs, bread, milk and homemade flapjacks on arrival, plus plenty of tea, coffee and all the usual bits and bobs. The log burner fire was a welcome addition with enough logs and fore lighting stuff for our entire duration.. really feels like they have thought of everything here.. Very quick and easy access to bakewell.. literally about 5/10 mins drive.. lovely pubs just up the road in Youlgrave serve really good food and large portions.. We will be back Thank you

United KingdomOnly complaint: although even, the double bed mattress was too soft - but that is just a matter of taste
Great location - quiet, beautiful, very good walking on foot from the cottage - and very well located for trips to other parts of the Peaks by car. The cottage was very well set up - warm underfloor heating, decent wood-burner and plenty of fuel, good kitchen, good bathroom, good beds in twin room Loved it Highly recommend staying in Rose Cottage

United KingdomThere was no tea cosy 😂…and no internet but so what, we weren’t there to surf the net. Perhaps the one thing our hosts forgot to provide was extra seed for the birds. There is some now…we couldn’t leave them hungry.
The setting was lovely even in the rain. The cottage was beautifully presented, warm and inviting. There was almost everything you might need for a relaxing stay. It was good to see the bird feeders in the garden and they were being well used.

United KingdomLack of bedside lights in double bedroom. Kitchen was fully equipped (fantastic) but small frying pan needs replacing as impossible to make an omelette with those free range eggs.
Clear instructions received. Welcoming produce - eggs, milk, bread and home made flap jacks.

United Kingdomcottage in a lovely rural location. Very well equipped kitchen. Lounge small but adequate would be a bit cramped for 4 people but fine for 2. Main bedroom small but adequate. The twin room much roomier. Cottage spotless. Nice outside space. A lovely touch by owners was the provision of bread, milk, eggs and lovely flapjack. Thank you.

United KingdomAs there is no WiFi/broadband in the village it would have been useful to have at least a phone connection to book restaurants for meals etc. We had 3 different mobile networks between us, no signal on any. This could also cause an issue in an emergency.
Self catering. We were left bread, eggs, milk and lovely flapjacks

United KingdomTV was very basic, with just free view, which was more of an issue for the kids after they'd worn themselves out after hiking. Moreover we had issues with the signal which required the host to come over and correct. The lack of WiFi was an unexpected problem as reception generally within the house was very poor.
Location was superb, very clean and kitchen/dining room/living room were all fantastic.
