Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

A beautiful house in a stunning location! Everything is really nicely done inside, with stylish decor, excellent facilities and everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The garden was lovely, filled with flowers and with a beautiful view of the hills. Bart was friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend!

United KingdomHonestly nothing, and that's not something we write every time. We chatted on the way back home and both agreed it was quite probably the best place we've stayed.
The cottage has been recently refurbished to an extremely high standard. It's a complete home away from home, and the couple who run it have obviously got a really good eye for style. Everything's been thought out really well, and we could easily have stayed longer than we did. The beds are ultra comfy, the location feels like a proper wilderness, and the hosts are super friendly and helpful - what more could you want?

United KingdomWould maybe prefer a larger fridge/freezer but fine for short stay.
Great quiet location but very easy to find and access. Lovely views across valley. Cottage was actually much roomier than had imagined from photos. Very nicely high quality decoration and furnishings with a cosy feel. Comprehensive facilities. Very friendly, welcoming hosts who were quick to respond to our queries.

Perfect self-catering cottage, a house really, in a tranquil spot. What needed to be new was new, what was old was superbly maintained. The one disadvantage is that Garve is a bit of a drive from the spectacular spots to the north west, and the house is so comfortable that it makes you want to spend a lot of time in it rather than get in the car

United Kingdomnothing! it’s amazing.
We liked it so much we extended our holiday and stayed longer!! The property is a charming and comfortable retreat in the countryside. The views to the front are over fields and mountains and were lovely to wake up to. The kitchen is a great size and well equipped. We cooked in every night because the cottage was so nice to be in and we felt so relaxed. There is a great family size table in the kitchen as well as plenty of dinnerware and the like. There is a great high chair for the young one as well. In the lounge there is a wood burning stove which was set and ready to light for us (after a quick YouTube search for getting it burning - tip, close the door to the first notch only until it’s roaring). We lit it 2 nights and it wasn’t really cold enough to need it, but the atmosphere was so good with it to sit down and play with the provided board games and books. The furniture throughout was top class and unique and we particularly loved that. Moving upstairs there are two large bedrooms and a large bathroom with a fantastic shower as well as a separate free standing bath. The main bedroom has the great views out the front and a wonderfully comfortable bed with very nice linen, very high quality and had some great sleeps! The second room was set up with two single beds which I assume are as high quality, we didn’t use them as this was where we had the cot for our baby. The cot itself was a proper good quality cot, not a travel cot, which was a nice touch. The property also has a lovely garden out to the front which we didn’t use as we went out exploring every day. The location was ideal for adventuring out to east and west along some amazing roads and we plan to use this as a base again for a longer holiday. I couldn’t recommend this place highly enough.

United KingdomThe car parking is a little way from the cottage, which means carrying your luggage over a gravel path- no problem for the fit but not suitable for anyone who struggles with heavy cases. The fridge in the kitchen is small for a cottage remote from shops and the dishwasher is not a full-size one. The front garden gives lovely views over the mountains but its use is seriously compromised by the mosquitoes! Additional instructions for finding the cottage would be appreciated by future guests.
This is a comfortable cottage in a superb location for people who like outdoor activities- for example there are great walks straight from the front door. This is a remote location, there are no shops in the village, the nearest is several miles away. This is great for people who value peace and solitude but not suitable for anyone who looks forward to a stroll to the village shop or a meal at the local pub. The cottage is very spacious and well-furnished. There are books to read and all the usual TV facilities. The views from the main bedroom are excellent and the location in the woods is very peaceful. The owners live next door and are always available if you need help or advice. They have equipped the cottage with sustainable heating and, thankfully, haven’t compromised its traditional appearance with plastic windows. All in all, a good place to stay!
