Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaHaving to leave!
Wow. What can we say about Shabby Shepherds to really capture our experience? My sister and I spent 2 nights here, and could've spent 100 more. Simon, Viv & the girls were the loveliest people you could ever meet. They made the stay incredible. The hut is divine - stays toasty warm in winter, the bed is a heavenly cloud, the cooking facilities are robust and can handle simple or complex meals, and the bathroom is so generous for the size of the hut. The farm fresh eggs, Viv's bread, jams and wine were incredible and were happily gobbled up by us. The fireplace outside was well used on our winter evenings, and you get to overlook the stunning countryside and friendly animals. Speaking of the animals - they were such a highlight! We were beyond lucky to witness the live birth of two lambs born during our stay! And feeding the horses, sheep, alpacas, goats and chickens was so fun. Simon is incredibly knowledgeable and customised some driving and walking tours for us to do in the area and in London, which made our stay that much better. We cannot wait to go back, and would recommend this stay wholeheartedly.

United KingdomNothing it was perfect.
Absolutely perfect place to stay with the most welcoming hosts, who take the time to make you feel extremely welcome to their piece of paradise. The Shepards Hut is a perfect gateway, for couples looking to get away from it all. With stunning views across the Eden valley. Nature and small holding animals are all around you. The hosts attention to detail is seen through out the hut, it has everything you would expect and more. The hosts supplied all the wood and firelighters at no additional cost. The welcome loaf, butter, milk, eggs, jams, wine and marshmallows were another unexpected surprise. 5 minute walk from local pub and telephone box library.

United KingdomNothing! Everything was a short drive or walk away.
We had a lovely stay at the Shabby Shephards hut. The facilities in the hut are great, it’s a beautiful and private location, plus the owners are lovely and helpful! We had some freshly baked bread and some eggs on arrival and they were both great. We also loved the opportunity to meet and feed the animals on site. We would love to come back again in the future!

United KingdomAbsolutely nothing. It was just magical.
If your life is as busy as ours, then this is for you. The epitome of peace and tranquillity! From the secluded location (a field all to yourself), with the best neighbours I have ever encountered: some ryeland sheep, horses, and a trio of alpacas that all greet you in the morning. If that isn't enough, you get the most beautiful breath taking landscape. A sky full of stars, blankets, and a fire pit only gets better with the marshmallows included. The hut is just wonderful. Every little detail is thought about, from the decor to the fresh eggs and bread when we arrived. This place was a real haven to gather our thoughts, relax, and embrace some quality time away from life. I couldn't recommend Shabby Shepherds enough!

There wasn’t anything not to like. Had an amazing time over new year period. Was cosy and warm inside with an amazing view. Would recommend who is wanting to stay in a Shepards hut near the lakes to stay in shabby Shepard's.

10 out of 10! Our stay was amazing from start to finish, Simon was an exceptional host he welcomed us with a fresh loaf of bread that he had personally made that day, then showed us round the hut but also introduced us to all the animals who were also so friendly and gentle, one particular hen greeted us at the gate when we came home one day and walked us to the hut! Simon also recommended a lovely pub just a couple of minutes walk away where we had a gorgeous 3 course meal and also kindly helped us with our trips that we had planned. The hut itself was absolutely perfect, they really pay attention to detail with things such as fresh hens eggs from the hens they have on site, butter and milk in the fridge even marshmallows to toast on the fire pit, it was so cosy but practical inside and the views were just beautiful. Just exactly what we needed, we will definitely be back!!

Excellent stay. The shepherds hut was well laid out and very comfortable with all mod cons, including full size shower and toilet. The location was tip top with peace and quiet and fantastic views right from your front door, but with a good pub 5 minutes down the road And the hosts Simon & Viv were very welcoming indeed. I'd heartily recommend.

United KingdomExtremely helpful, friendly hosts. Beautifully finished accommodation and idyllic location. Lots of lovely little touches - wine, bread, eggs left for us. Animal food so we could feed the alpacas and plenty of wood for the firepit. It was lovely to be able to sit out and stargaze on a cool October evening.
