Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe swimming pool isn’t always open, so maybe phone ahead and check if that’s important to you. The breakfast is typical of a hotel buffet and cooked breakfast but I wouldn’t recommend the coffee.
I like the old Manor House appearance and the grounds. The rooms are comfortable and everything you need is provided. The decor is reasonably modern and clean. It is more reasonably priced in the new forest area, which can be an expensive place to stay. I would stay here again. I imagine people have wedding receptions here.

United KingdomI think that for the price of the hotel the tea tray could have been slightly better stocked, and also the little products available in the bathroom could be better thought through. We had 4 shampoos, two varieties, but surely a 2 and 2 conditioners would be better? It was also very hot in our room.
The staff on reception were really helpful. The room was large and comfy, the bathroom was a little tight but nice powerful shower. We appreciated the extra bed for our toddler. The view to the garden was beautiful and we could see the ponies in the field! Dinner was delicious, breakfast was good. The swimming pool was a lovely bonus. Super clean and quiet, we loved it!

United KingdomThe room and bathroom needed a repaint and a thorough clean, especially the radiator below the window in the bedroom which was coated with layers of dust and dog hair. Unfortunately the swimming pool was not available to use either which was disappointing.
It was a beautiful period building, decorated tastefully, with a lovely garden.

United KingdomA few issues; the beds were terrible, like sleeping on a sponge. I had bad back after two nights. We did ask to move rooms, but the beds were the same in the one we were offered. There's no bar / light snacks menu, your only option is the full restaurant service in the evening. The breakfast was underwhelming with limited choice. There aren't really proper changing rooms for the pool, just a toilet space adjoining, so in busy times you would have to wait to get changed. Otherwise, nice location and could be great with some improvements!
The building is lovely, and the staff are good. The food in the restaurant was excellent. The room was clean.

United KingdomThe pool was crazy small. It’s more like an oversized bathtub, so we decided not to bother as it was packed with people, and looked rather uninviting. Our room was very cramped for the price (£123 per night) and had a tiny shower room built into the corner of the room. The shower cubicle itself was so small we had to shower with the glass door open. The bed was also tiny- more like a large single than a double! Lastly we thought the dining area was pretty unclean. We only ate breakfast here but there were chips and potato and serviettes on the floor from the previous night’s service. We also asked for 2 pots of coffee but only got one and gave up as we had to dash off for an event.
Nice building and gardens with lots of potential to be better. Friendly staff who seemed cheerful and helpful. Fantastic pub within 10 mins walk from the hotel, The White Hart, which did great food and is definitely worth a visit!

United KingdomOur room (33) for our 2&5 year old had bunk beds despite a note to say we wanted put up beds. When we asked the young man on reception he said. ‘Oh yes we saw the note, didn’t know what it meant so just put a cot in your room’. We therefore had our 2 years in the bed with us that night. We had to ask again the following day at which point, after our day out, there was a bed placed in our room. Very under staffed for a bank holiday. About 3 hangers in wardrobe, fridge would benefit a family with children. The breakfast was lacking fresh fruit, just a bowl of melon but was ok generally. The hotel is lacking some atmosphere and has potential to be a wonderful hotel but at present it is missing that special spark and compared to other hotel of a similar style I would say this isn’t up there in terms of quality and was more expensive than others we have stayed in which have better facilities, staff and atmosphere.
Hotel itself was clean, the pool was nice for the kids but only 3 chairs around the pool area so it would benefit from some more seating or area to place belongings. Dinner was good quality. Room 33 - Our bathroom was clean and water pressure good (I had seen comments about this). TV was good and had all the channels we needed.

United KingdomRoom was dated and needed decorating signs of flaking on the ceiling , bed uncomfortable 2 singles pushed together. Could hear other people in rooms so up when they was up. Dinner wasn't great we had Rib eye steak was full of fat was more like rump but this was taken off of the bill and they was very nice staff in the restaurant If it wasn't for the kids enjoying the pool would have been disappointed for the over £250 spent and sooner drove home to save the money.
Lovely location friendly staff no ask was too much. Good Breakfast lots of variety friendly staff Swimming pool is good and warm with complimentary towels 👍🏻 Clean

United KingdomThe lack of available evening bar snacks and room service! It’s one thing that we look for when staying at a hotel. This hotel did not have this facility.
The beds in our room were firm which made for a fantastic nights sleep for us. Hot shower and breakfast was delicious. The pool was quiet in the mornings and evenings which the children loved!

United KingdomOverall it was absolutely great and very comfortable. The gripe is that apparently you can’t be a vegan or vegetarian on a Sunday morning: it’s buffet and their usual choice (which is why we booked breakfast that day) whilst accommodating for such tastes does not operate on Sundays. When raised, quite a challenge and staff not particularly keen to support rather than keen to solve: in end teenagers embarrassed by mum asking so they just ate what was there - mushrooms, tomatoes and plain toast for vegan. Vegetarian did do better as there are pastries etc. we had informed on booking of this so really disappointing happened and even more sad staff found it something they didn’t really care about. All other staff at dinner - even when on fourth time of trying to find something to drink as all choices on menu out- and throughout were keen to do what they could when presented with something they didn’t expect (like wine and lunch menus not matching up with what they had actually available). First world problems but equally, paying first world prices.
Very quiet and lovely places to sit and hang out in. Very comfortable physical environment for us. We had two dinners in hotel and absolutely delicious, freshly cooked and on the menu were sufficient choices for vegan, and vegetarian in family- and wonderful to have beautifully cooked meat (which for the family meat eaters is still a rare treat) and extraordinary desserts—again dietary friendly (ie not just sorbet) well presented. Teenagers not always into their food and hard to find places that suit all tastes in our family - but this was a joy.

United KingdomThe private road to the hotel is full of potholes, one of them more than half the size of the road, our room was on the ground floor and the water pressure was non-existent at some times of the day (I assume at popular showering time) which was very frustrating.
The location is ideal to explore the New Forest, the food at dinner was good (breakfast was meh), staff friendly

United StatesUnderstaffed at reception so staff flustered and slow when I arrived to get key. Receptionist also announced my room number in front of other guests which made me uncomfortable as a female traveling alone. Shower in my room didn’t work and I couldn’t be bothered to find a staff person to work it out knowing that at check in they were understaffed and I didn’t have time to wait for the repair.
Nice location with some walks in the New forest accessible from the property. I visited in low season and it was quiet especially at night. Good breakfast buffet. Would come back.

United KingdomOriginally given a very tired twin room that looked nothing like the pictures on the website. Bathroom was almost in a cupboard with the sink in the room. However the staff were lovely and moved us to a better room which was spacious with a good sized bathroom. However I did notice skirting boards had not been cleaned for a while in the bathroom and there were cobwebs on a lot of the light fixtures.
Lovely property in its own gardens. Plenty of parking and a very good breakfast. Easy to get to. Staff were really friendly and helpful.
