No free on-site parking due to the location. The facilities were fine but very basic. Curtains and blinds didn't block out the light very well in the morning.

The location was great with easy access to the beach and other amenities.

Room was smaller than we had expected and very hot (but the weather was exceptionally hot). A fan would have helped.

Location was excellent; staff were friendly; room was spotless

Bathroom in need of refurbishment, although clean, was dated and showing lots of wear and tear, grout, sealant, tiles and a cheap electric shower all need attention. Felt the price was on the high side for room only (no breakfast available)

Good location, comfy bed, clean room.

Okay for a night or two if you don't have another option

    • Deluxe Double Room with Sea View
    • Stayed 3 nights

The hotel looks much older than in the pictures, with very basic comfort (we only got 3 towels for two people, the floor mat for the shower was a disposable sheet of paper, no hooks for towels in the bathroom or in the room,...). The floor in our room was crooked - if we put a bottle on the night stand it would roll to the floor instantly. It was okay for a couple of nights but definitely not a place for a romantic weekend. We booked a room with breakfast included and were told on arrival that the hotel does not offer breakfast. The cost of breakfast was deducted from the final bill though so that was alright.

Great location in the Mumbles. close to all the restaurants, beach, etc... The room was of a good size and clean. The staff was nice. The price we paid at the end of our stay was completely different from what had been quoted on Booking.com, but since it was more than half the price it was a good surprise - and a fairer price considering the room.

Room 'tired' and single bed just had a sheet over the mattress (no mattress protector) and the springs made bed uncomfortable to sleep on. Rusty towel rail/radiator in bathroom. We phoned a couple of days before to reinforce dietary requirements then to be told no breakfast available as hotel full and could not meet Covid regs. (Please note the price was adjusted but we could have arrived not knowing the situation if we had not called 2 days before.) Entrance to hotel does not create good impression. I would not class our room as deluxe: which it was meant to be. The name Carlton suggests more upmarket.

Staff were were very friendly and helpful. We arrived a little early and they happily allowed us to leave our bags at the hotel until our room was ready. Excellent location - central to Mumbles. Room had the basics ie kettle, hairdryer and nice view. Door key/entry system worked well.

Nobody on reception on arrival. Had to walk up 5 flights of stairs with heavy bags. Mumbles was very busy, all the bars were full, but not here - there was one person perpetually in the bar glaring at whoever walked in. I went elsewhere. Could not open the shower door fully as it hits the toilet. Nobody on reception at checkout so I left the key on the desk and left. Given the past year the hotel industry has had I was expecting a far better experience. This hotel needs to look at what all the others are doing in Mumbles and up their game. I won’t use them again and I travel all over the UK. cannot fault the location.

Comfortable bed, plenty of tea, coffee, and milk.

Overpriced and hotel needs updating and tidying up

Hotel itself is tired and needs updating. Old furniture and window frames and diy stuff had been left in downstairs spaces including corridor. Room furniture/curtains needs updating as does the bathroom and cleaning under furniture could be better (dog biscuit and crisps found under settee). Paper bath mat provided rather than fabric/towelling bath mat was a tacky thing to be using. Basically we paid for the location and not the quality of the hotel. Shame. Will not return here. By far the most expensive and worst quality hotel we have ever stayed in. And didn’t complain as we knew there was nowhere else to stay nearby. The view from the room windows was this hotels redeeming feature.

View from room was great. Bed was comfy. Room size was great. We had I think the largest room provided.

Booked bed and breakfast told on arrival unable to do as hotel full and couldn’t social distance. Did discount rooms but had to go looking for breakfast on 3 mornings, annoying not informed earlier Info said parking available which is why we chose Carlton from others available. They had no car park and was on street parking - misleading

Room was spacious, had all we needed. Staff friendly and helpful

The hotel is quite tired looking and lacking any style with its decor and furnishings, despite recent improvements. We were very disappointed to learn, on arrival, that the restaurant was closed due to lack of staff and hence they would not be providing the breakfast we had booked. It would have been helpful to be warned of this in advance. There was no apology and we were a bit miffed about it although we totally understand that COVID has created issues beyond their control.

The location was great, right on the sea front and we had a room with a sea view. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean and we were perfectly happy for our four nights there. In the end, the lack of breakfast meant we had the opportunity to explore Mumbles each morning and Boo’s kitchen was a great find for breakfast and coffee. We were given a rebate for the breakfast element of our booking.

When we arrived a resident let us in and got our key from behind reception. We didn’t speak to a member of staff our entire stay. We’d booked breakfast and despite posters everywhere telling us the meal times etc there wasn’t breakfast

Room was immaculately clean, if a little tired. We booked a sea view. The hotel is right on the front close to all amenities.

No parking, you have to pay £6.00 per day at the public car park. The hotel is in need of an update, quite a few things were broken or damaged. The room was small, the bed not very comfortable. The window did not open properly. The key given to us did not work for the front door. When we wanted to get our bags from the room to check-out (after going out for breakfast - no food available in the hotel), we could not open the front door. We had to bang at the door quite a while before someone heard us and let us in. Very inconvenient. It is a shame as the hotel is in a brilliant location.

I like the location and that the bathroom was clean.

We booked B&B but were advised they had overbooked the rooms so there was no breakfast. There was £7.50 per person knocked off the final bill. I suggested that we would not be able to purchase a breakfast with coffee/juice/cereal/toast etc for less than £10 locally but was not offered more than the £7.50 which I thought was harsh as the cafe locally also didn't open til 9am so we had to hang around. The bar was poorly stocked too and it was quite noisy at night as the outdoor bar areas are right outside. That said, it was nice to see people enjoying themselves! Fire alarm went off around 9pm - very disappointed to see barman/manager smoking, laughing about it and continuing to talk to bar customers - old people were flustered, in nightgowns (two of them) and had managed to get out into the street. reassurance, apologies and explanations would have been more appropriate from him.

our room was lovely, clean and large enough with sea views out over the prom. The bed was comfy, towels and linen all clean and as expected. The hotel is right on the front so easy access to walks, beaches, restaurants and bars if you don't want to drive in the evening and it has perfect access to Swansea and out to the beauty of the Gower
