Greeted on arrival with a room upgrade - stunning room looking out onto the High Street. Lovely touches in the room, complimentary bottled water and even a decanter of sherry! Tasty breakfast. Will definitely stay here again if we're in the area.

The Wi-Fi didn’t work in our room, and the mattress on the left hand side was sloping so much I actually slipped out of bed in the night, we had to prop it up with pillows. It was extremely hot in the room too but we did have a fan. It was comfortable and clean but £140 a night was a bit steep for what we got.

The location is excellent, the staff were very friendly and helpful, it’s great that there’s a car park too.

All the staff we met were lovely and couldn't do enough for you. Beautiful decoration and good choice of tea/coffee.

As above re the shower. The mattresses and pillows were a bit too soft for our liking.

The breakfast was excellent. Plenty of choice and my requests for dietary requirements were met. We had an evening meal which again was first class. The room was comfortable. If we booked again we would like a room with a bigger shower space.

Beautiful Hotel, Great location and large street view room with a super sized bed. The owners Lisa & John were the best hosts one could ask for and will stay again.

The only slight negative was the power of the shower but he'll that was a tiny problem. Great people great hotel.

Everything about the hotel was exceptional. Lisa, John and staff were extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was very clean and our room comfortable with tasteful decor. We had access to a fridge and microwave which was very useful, and the snug area was lovely and cozy. There was plenty of choice with regard to tasty breakfasts, rangng from freshly prepared fruit, eggs royale/benedict, cereals and a full English, with a vegetarian option too, both cooked to perfection. I have stayed in many hotels of all descriptions and would definitely rate this as being one of the best I have experienced.

It's a great location for the castle and the whole village is lovely. It has parking, the breakfast was great and our hosts were lovely.

Lightning in the room was a little dim although the room itself was bright.

So pleased to have made this the starting point of a mini Exmoor visit. The hotel had just opened up for the start of the season and our hosts were truly welcoming and the room stunning. Hope to return again before too long.

Everything was perfect. Perfect room, host, location, breakfast. We really loved our stay. The room was so lovely, nice and clean comfy huge bed. The hosts couldn't do enough for you. It was a perfect weekend away.

We had a lovely stay between Christmas and New Year. The hotel is cosy, welcoming and exceedingly dog friendly. As it was quiet we were upgraded to the honeymoon suite which made our stay even better. Would definitely consider staying again and would highly recommend to all.

There was nothing at all which we did not like.

We were given a better room on check-in despite having the dog. He was spoilt at breakfast with a choice of sausage or bacon - never had that before! Lisa and John could not have been more welcoming. We felt like we were staying at their private house.
