    Everything was exceptional.

The garden is so beautiful and peaceful - the addition of the summer house & the upcoming fire pit area will be a treat. You have plenty of space with the bedroom, lounge & bathroom.

Lovely location very near Rye nature reserve (the far end), very welcoming and clean. Gorgeous garden, peaceful and plenty to eat for breakfast! Janette was very quick to respond to queries and we enjoyed some great chats about gardening and the state of British education 🤣

Great to have access to my own lounge and bathroom especially since it was pouring with rain the night I stayed so walks to the coast and Camber Castle were out. Friendly welcome from Janette and a good continental breakfast to set me up for the day. Very quiet location too.

The road directly in front of the property and all the other homes on the road has a private road which is not paved and is quite bumpy. This, I think, keeps the traffic limited. It wasn’t at a problem because it was so very quiet and peaceful.

It was exceptionally clean and comfortable. Janette felt like an old friend from the past, so easy to talk to. Her garden is beautiful, colourful, and understated.

You are thoroughly spoilt when you stay at The Gem! The Gem was an ideal overnight stay for us on our recent cycle tour to visit Rochester and Canterbury Cathedral. The Gem is in a quiet location with a beautiful garden and within walking distance to the historic town of Winchelsea which is well worth a visit. The accommodation was very spacious, extremely clean and very good value for money. There was safe, secure indoor storage for our bicycle overnight. The hostess was very welcoming and friendly and gave us a delicious breakfast. A stay at The Gem is highly recommended.

The unmade road approaching was very, very bumpy. I suppose that is the price you pay for peace, quiet and seclusion from the normal hustle and bustle.

Our hosts were friendly and welcoming. We had a bedroom, bathroom and living room with a TV to our selves. The bed was comfortable and our bedroom was tastefully decorated. Breakfast was the continental variety, with plenty of fruit and croissants. The rooms were scrupulously clean. The Gem made a great place to set up base and explore. We visited Rye, the nature reserve and Winchelsea.

Although the breakfast was very tasty and the portions were generous it would have been nice to have a little more variation as our stay was for 3 nights. The parking was too tight so it was more convenient for us to park on the unmade road and their cars were in the 2 allocated spaces.

The couple were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Our bedroom and sitting room were really comfy. The garden was a delight.
