How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Location was stunning as was the barn. I was made to feel very welcome and my hosts couldn't do enough for me. Ideal for myself as a single traveller for work and will definitely return

Lovely warm welcome, everything I needed was already provided. Sian and Tom are generous and thoughtful hosts. The area is so beautiful and the barn conversion is tucked away up a quiet lane. I felt secure, comfortable and at home.

The hosts were extremely welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation whilst compact was beautifully appointed. I was a lone female travelling for work and felt completely at ease and in a safe environment.

Friendly, welcoming owners and my room was clean and comfortable. The accommodation is in a quiet, rural location and was perfectly placed for exploring the surrounding Herefordshire countryside.

Slightly small for 2 people, but nothing we didn't expect Could get quite hot, but there is a fan to negate this.

The bathroom was accessed via a shared corridor (to the main house) not private to the bedroom. The beautiful pictures of the main house are lovely but not relevant as you’re staying in the annex round the back. Fridge was too noisy to use.

I didn't like the shared corridor, felt a bit awkward when going to from bathroom in towel, had to wait when corridor was clear. I wanted quiet, all I can hear was tumble dryer and kids.
I liked the room , very clean. Bathroom very clean. Host very friendly, very nice, I arrived late but host was there waiting up for me, bless her. Beautiful home and beautiful countryside. Love going to Hereford my favourite place. Always like to find unique places to stay.perfect place. Highly recommend going back. Maybe for longer stay.

Because I was there on my own for 3 nights in a remote location, some form of cooking equipment and utensils would have been nice in the kitchen/utility area, e.g. a small toaster and microwave oven for simple evening meals, and a slightly larger fridge. However, the kettle and small cooler/fridge in the bedroom were fine.
Absolutely spotless bedroom and ensuite, very comfortable bed and a homely feel to the room. Helpful communication from the friendly hosts regarding directions.

If I'm being picky, the room itself, whilst beautiful, is compact and we would have struggled without the use of the outside seating area when we wanted to have a drink or breakfast. But it wouldn't put me off staying again in the future at all.
Everything! The hosts were extremely welcoming and the room is a home from home. It's obvious that a lot of care has been taken with the design and the decor. The use of the outside space is an added bonus and the location was beautiful. Really couldn't have asked for anything more.

Directions to the place cold have been more detailed. The room was a little cramped and very hot although the hosts had provided an electric fan and to be fair our stay was during record temperatures!
The location was lovely. The hosts were friendly and welcoming. The room was tastefully decorated.

Nothing Would stay again no problem
The place was really good, A completely different style to normal hotel accommodation. Nice room with en suite shower really clean plenty of towels soaps etc if you had forgotten anything, Cupboard full of cereal snacks, bowls and cups etc to make your own quick breakfast Met the family and there dog Poppy Enjoyed the stay
