How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Only one small niggle - breakfast (8am - 9am) was a little early, although we understand why it is so.
A lovely welcome from our delightful hosts. The room was a really good size and the bed so comfortable it was difficult to leave!! Really good Internet connection, and a fresh, clean efficient shower and bathroom.

We had the beautiful spacious room to the front of the house; although the bedroom was very comfortable, the window was to the road, so it was a bit noisy sometimes during the day, we had to close the window. This has obviously nothing to do with the excellent running of the guesthouse.
The breakfast was healthy, varied, and excellent choice, full English breakfast included in the price, freshly prepared every day; everything was spotlessly clean, tasteful décor, especially in the bedroom; very comfortable bed, generous cupboard space; modern ensuite bathroom facilities; very friendly and helpful staff (couple that runs the guest house); only 5 minutes walk to the town centre, and about 10 minutes to the beach, lovely location, private parking easy; excellent coastal walks, restaurants and atmosphere

Nothing, everything was great.
Everything about this guest house was exceptional. The rooms were spotlessly clean. They had superb facilities and were decorated beautifully. Andy and Sarah were great hosts who had many tips about where to go, best places to eat, parking, and many more useful tips. The breakfast was also beautifully cooked and was always delivered with a happy and warm greeting. The property is about a 10 minute walk to the seafront, has great parking and is close to the lovely Byes park.

Stair access to rooms was awkward with suitcases. Parking spaces were limited and awkward to drive in/out of with larger cars/SUV.
Hosts were excellent - very welcoming providing lots of local information and always available to speak to. Location is good for accessing the town centre and local pubs/cafes. Parking good. Room was a great size. Very clean with very comfortable bed, good size wardrobe and lots of drawers. Bathroom and shower was a good size and very clean. Good coffee/tea in-room facilities, hairdryer and good quantity of coat hangers provided. Breakfast rooms were clean and spacious. Very good range of drinks, cereals, yoghurts and fruit. The cooked breakfasts were excellent and were made as requested.

The Groveside is a located very close to the town centre, and a short walk to the beach. Private parking is very good, so, overall, a great location. The house and room were very clean, and breakfast was excellent.

Sarah and Andy are great hosts. Room spotless. Freshly cooked breakfast plus selection of fruit, cereals, etc. Property 3 to 400 yds away from bustling town centre. Great location and eateries nearby. Recommend The Anchor and The Volunteer, popular so booking definitely advised.
