The location is great. We were first given a darl room which was a bit noisy from machines outside. We asked for a change in rooms and were given a nice light quiet room.

Its location to London City makes it more of a business traveller hotel - the area around it was very quiet on the weekend (which can also be a positive tbh). The window didn’t open and we couldn’t really do anything to change the temperature on the air conditioning.

Very centrally located, close to the barbican and walking distance to shore ditch neighbourhoods and spittalfields. Staff were very friendly and our room in the inner building was very quiet and the bed was comfortable.

Issue with broken flush in bathroom, but this was fixed immediately

Good value hotel. Staff were attentive and maintenance fixed a problem in the room within minutes of us reporting it to reception. Also, good breakfast.

Wonky mirror, room decor & facilities Corridors smelled of old / mouldy and dirty. Bar staff not very friendly - specially the young lady.

The blind in the bathroom was stuck on an automatic roller ...making noise all night. Kept us awake. No big apology from reception. Location not central to West end so not ideal for me . Nice room though

Expected a much larger room, the pictures of deluxe double room were nothing like the room we had, it was significantly smaller. I have had a larger room in an easy hotel or travelodge. The surfaces needed dusting and the toilet water was consistently running. And the plugs by the bed side didnt work at all. I was really disappointed that the pictures didnt live up to the room we got, there isnt even a similar looking room used in the pictures

Hotel charges £19 for breakfast which for what they offer is quite pricy . Other hotels charge £10/£12 and there’s bigger selection of produce available.

It was clean , room was quite big and air conditioning worked very well .

The room was very small and dark. There was absolutely no view and as such if was difficult to tell what time it was. The bathroom wasn't spotless. It was impossible to open a window.

The location was ideal. The room was warm. The TV and kettles worked. There were toiletries in the bathroom.

Rooms were a bit dated and simple cosmetic things should really have been taken care of, for example old blind runners and screw holes in the wall. It wouldn't take long to fix them up - they really brought down the room and made it not feel like a 5" experience. Blind on one of the windows was completely broken and you had to un-velcro it and it just hung from strings on the window - really not acceptable for a 5*. Room was quite small.

Staff were very friendly and bed was extremely comfortable. Heating system worked well so could manage the temperature in the room and keep it nice and cosy. Shower and bathroom were lovely. We had all the things we needed in the room like an iron, dressing gowns, toiletries etc. Special shout out to Alock on reception, he was warm and kind and was a pleasure to deal with.

For such a great location the hotel experience was a let-down. With all of the history I asked t eh staff nd teh concierge for details on. teh Whitbread heritage, they knew nothing, such shame. I returned to the hotel after an evening at an event at 11:05 and had hoped to have a nightcap - no bar for residents, really, this is London! So, thought we'd nightcap from our Mini-bar but that was just an empty fridge. The room was tiny (I know I have stayed in plenty of London hotel rooms) but the windows were like those of a prison, so even when the sun came out the next morning there was no light in the room, quite depressing.. So, a poor experience for a 4* hotel and I doubt I'd return.

Not that we necessarily didn’t enjoy our stay, but to call it a 5 star hotel would be a stretch. Bit rundown and poor noise isolation between rooms and hallway.

The reception staff weren’t friendly, one of the keys for the room didn’t work so we were locked out of the room and we were in an underground room with no window. We had booked a delux room and if that was one then goodness help those in the basic room. It was dark and dingy without lights and was extremely small.

A lovely old building with a beautiful reception area and excellent door and security staff. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was nicely appointed.
