Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing to dislike at all
Had a lovely relaxing 4 day break here a few weeks ago. Arrived to a lovely afternoon tea which was a lovely touch. Fiona's hospitality was second to none. Nothing was too much trouble, we felt like we were staying with family or a close friend. We seemed to be staying in the middle of nowhere yet within 5 minutes we were in the centre of Alnwick. We are already looking forward to returning :o)

ItalyWe loved everything about The Night Owl, we cannot fault Fiona's place!
The Night Owl definitely exceeded our expectations, everything was perfect during our stay and we already want to come back. We were greeted with a delicious Afternoon Tea on arrival, which was an amazing way to start the stay. The "Eagle Owl" room had plenty of space and a very large en-suite bathroom with very good facilities. The bed and pillows were super comfortable and the room temperature was perfect during the night as the weather was still chilly during our visit. The food during breakfast was delicious and there were plenty of cooked options as well as a very good continental offering to start. We loved the setting of this accommodation as it is situated in the heart of the Northumbrian countryside, where you can see lots of stars at night and you cannot hear a single noise. Last, but not least, we felt really welcomed by Fiona and Archie, the hosting was superb and Fiona made everything to make us feel at home.

United KingdomSuch an amazing place. Fiona is exceptionally kind, accommodating, warm and gracious as a host, and she is highly skilled in the kitchen, with so many of the ingredients used being locally sourced. The views are so beautiful, particularly over breakfast as the sun is rising, and the entire property has such a cosy, rustic feel to it. We were immediately made to feel right at home and we're already trying to find excuses to stay here again. As a side note, I suffer from chronic pain and can struggle to fall asleep, but the bed was so comfortable that I slept blissfully both nights. Highly highly recommend

Beautiful location, out on the moors and yet only 10 minutes from Alnwick. Absolutely spotless everywhere. Gorgeous garden area and able to sit outside if we chose. Fiona our host was so welcoming and provided afternoon tea on arrival, nothing was too much trouble for her. Amazing breakfast and home made bread too. Carrot cake just the best! We didn’t want to leave. Comfy beds and dressing gowns too. I could just go on and on. We will definitely be booking again. Prompt communication to any messages 😊

United KingdomLoved the location, lovely and quiet but only a few minutes out of Alnwick Town centre. Great to watch the birds in the garden from the sunroom. Lovely to have a sitting room to share with family / guests. It was a perfect base to explore Northumbria with family all able to stay together. There were 6 of us staying between the 3 rooms. Lovely homemade breakfasts. Fiona is a great host, very friendly but not overbearing. The house is immaculate, and the accessible room is lovely. The bathrooms were all really good and the sitting room is a really nice extra to enable you to relax with friends.

United KingdomNothing!
The breakfasts were excellent with a large choice of food and drink. Fiona was a really good host and was friendly and helpful. There was a separate lounge if needed and there was always parking. In the countryside but only just over 3 miles to Alnwick and around 2 miles to the A1 to reach different destinations and activities. Highly recommended!

United KingdomThis is an amazing B&B facility. It is in a wonderfully quiet and scenic location but just a few minutes drive from the centre of Alnwick and surrounding attractions. The room and food were both excellent - and the host could not have been more welcoming and helpful. We recommend this to anyone looking for a quiet break unreservedly.
