How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

There was nothing we didn't like.
A beautiful property that was very clean and comfortable with very kind and friendly hosts. The breakfast consisted of a good selection and nicely cooked. We looked forward to going back to our room after a busy day where we relaxed and watched TV and looked onto the lovely garden.

Really friendly hosts who gave us lots of recommendations. Room was finished very nicely and impeccably clean. Breakfast was fantastic - we felt very well looked after!

We spent two nights at the Old Vicarage while visiting the Eden Project and Newquay. The owners were really friendly, the B&B was comfortable and well located, and the breakfasts were excellent. Both nights we enjoyed an evening meal at the Kings Arms pub in the village which is only short walk away. A perfect location from which to explore the beautiful Cornish countryside.

Quite a tricky entrance gate but we got used to it quickly.
It was finished to a high standard. We enjoyed the fact that all guests sat at a long table, making it quite a sociable occasion. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful. Easy walk down to the local pub.

It was well decorated, very clean and from the start was made very welcome by both Andy & Wendy. Breakfast excellent with everything freshly cooked. Great atmosphere with good local advice for places to visit and eat from Andy, including how to miss some of the narrowest lanes! Thank you Andy & Wendy

There was nothing we didn't like. Cost aside, our room and en suite could have been a little larger.

Apart from having to leave to go home, I cannot see what there is not to like with The Old Vicarage.
We had the Rashleigh Room , superb room with a superb bathroom which had a great shower and a lovely bath. In the morning there was a fantastic cooked breakfast to start the day. Wendy and Andy are great hosts. Plenty of tea and coffee provided in the room , wifi worked perfectly. No issues with car parking plenty of space.

Andy and Wendy provide a lovely and welcoming B&B with beautiful grounds. We felt welcomed and they are very accommodating with helpful information about the area. Our room was spacious with a nice seating area overlooking the garden. We even had a large, comfortable bathtub, which we happily used to soak our weary muscles. The breakfast was hearty and cooked to order. We appreciated the private parking too. This stay really hit the mark with quality and comfort.

Nothing negative at all. Our preference is for almost blackout blinds/ curtains and found the room lighter than we are used to. Perhaps an additional internal roller blind option may provide a straightforward solution. However we appreciate the high standards achieved by Wendy and Andy.
Excellent location for visiting Eden Project with many other popular coastal areas within easy travel distance. Lovely garden area with outside seating; very peaceful. The house is exceptionally well looked after and of a high standard. The rooms are all spotless with many nice, personal touches. Wendy and Andy provide an exceptional breakfast! An extensive selection of hot/cold food and drinks all cooked to perfection. Andy is knowledgeable about all things Cornwall and offers advice and ‘best tips’ to enhance guests’ experience. Wendy and Andy are truly magnificent hosts.
