Beautifully recently refurbished hotel. It was immaculate and yet, in keeping with the age of the building. The staff were all friendly, helpful and professional. The room was very clean and smelled brand new. The location of the hotel is in the centre of Barnard Castle, so everything is within easy walking distance. The breakfast was superb. A great choice of continental and cooked breakfast choices, with table service. Free parking is always a bonus. Good value for money.

The car park was a little small. Our room was on the first floor and we could hear the guests footsteps from above.

The location was ideal as it was in the centre of the town, with all of the facilities nearby, including the castle, which was our reason for visiting Barnard Castle. The restaurant/breakfast room was very clean and the staff were friendly and efficient. We enjoyed the breakfast but the black pudding was rather dry and the poached eggs whites were not fully cooked. The cleanliness of the hotel, overall was excellent.

Sound proofing is lacking in some of the rooms making it hard to sleep at night with the pub downstairs. Some noisey work going on inside/outside hotel at 6:30 in the morning. The breakfast yesterday morning with scrambled eggs, the scrambled eggs looked like a sloppy mush. Too much liquid had been added to it and wasn’t very appealing.

Room is always clean and staff really friendly. Everything you need from a hotel.

It was all very good.

The staff and cleanliness were both exceptional. 10/10 for both. The breakfast was really good too, all cooked fresh to order. We were on a motorbike and allowed to store it in a garage space over the road, which was much appreciated.

Pictures just don’t do it justice! Much better than expected. Cosy, warm and inviting. Smelled like a spa when we walked in. Easy parking and access to a Main Street, super clean throughout the hotel, rooms are excellently equipped, friendly staff and a cracking breakfast. Excellent value with no compromise to quality.

A little gem right in the town centre of Barnard Castle. The rooms were cleaned to a very high level and very modern. The food was second to none and the staff work the backsides off morning, noon and night! This was our first visit to Barnard Castle and will definitely not be our last!
