How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Meals. Unless you went really early, no seats in entertainment bar.
Breakfast ok, not a big choice for kids or Vegetarian. Evening meal was help yourself, again basic. Prefer waiter service.

The switches and plug sockets didn’t work in the bedroom which was a bit of a problem and on our last day there was a leak from the upstairs apartment into the bathroom
Great location happy helpful staff and residents. Shame the parking looks like it’s about to be charged hopefully not for staying residents. Apartment 25 looked to be recently refurbished to us with lovely decor.

Generally the hotel is a bit tired.
Location, pool, breakfast. The dining room and ballroom are grand old settings.

The only negative was the beds mattress you could feel the springs when lying down. Hotel really could do with upgrade on rooms or even put mattresses toppers on the spring beds would help.
Great family friendly hotel the kids loved the pool, excellent for kids with a arcade, kids clubs and a family entertainment room. Stopped in an apartment was very dated but clean.

No 16 room was very noisy. The shower head was black. Too many steps for my 92 yr mother. Next time we'll book in Derwent or Carlton . Heating could do with resetting. Preferably for when people get washed and dressed for Dinner. I didn't bloke the tomatoey gravy with the Christmas dinner as I don't eat tomatoes.
The entertainment in the Starlight was exceptional. The waiting staff were brilliant.

The staff were hit and miss. Callum the porter was amazing. So helpful and couldn’t do enough for you. Same as in Aztec bar. Reception staff were pleasant enough but definitely lacked in the friendliness that we had experienced everywhere else. Check in was difficult and when I checked out she literally just told me she just needs the keys. There was no - did you have a lovely stay, what are your plans next, thank you for staying with us etc I’ve worked in hospitality for many years and that’s the only area where I felt it could be improved.

It's not that I didn't like it, but it could be better - our bathroom needed some serious refurbishment.
We loved having pool and entertainment within the hotel. Food was very good and the atmosphere was very relaxing. Special mention to Victoria who greeted us on arrival with big smile and Marius, who made my daughter's evening by getting her favourite meal cooked at the dinner.

The bedroom and bathroom were not welcoming and needed to be updated when we booked with booking. com online, the room that we had viewed had already appeared to be updated with a new bathroom and the bedroom had been redecorated and refitted.
The breakfast was excellent - The staff was friendly and helpful - The sports bar and food were very good and the bowling was fab.

Very clean. Comfortable bed. Great shower pressure. The outside looked a little tired but then again it does have salt air all the time. They are updating some carpets but no issues for those staying.

The place is lovely but it is very tired and needs a refresh of decorating and furniture in the rooms. The swimming pool was lovely but very cold, many people mentioned it! However the place is charming. Staff are lovely and that really is what made the holiday!

Unfortunately the cleanliness and appearance of the hotel room was disappointing. The room is in desperate need of redecorating and this makes it appear even more unclean.
Excellent location and good facilities within the hotel. Friendly, polite and professional staff. Great breakfast buffet and good evening meal choices. A good variety of entertainment.

Room curtains were all ripped and torn..the bath cold tap didnt work so couldnt regulate water temperature..no baking trays for oven cooking...I'm not having a moan just pointing out a couple of improvements..would recommend to friend's and family and will be back again..the children loved it...

Hotel is a little out dated needs work in some places. Bed wasnt very comfortable which ment our sleep wasn't the greatest. Breakfast was okay but not for us lots of food was deep fried and over done the second (the day we left) morning we skipped breakfast and went to a cafe for breakfast.
Location was good close to the town. Swimming pool was nice and not to busy. Staff were friendly.
