Bathroom was worst bit grout black bath brown rust stains . Sink tap loose and squirted water everywhere .

Pub was excellent and food . Staff was brilliant, but my room was depressing, tired and not cared for, especially the bathroom . Would stay again if room was nicer . Staff excellent and clean towels everyday .

The pillows on the bed weren't great, but that is a very subjective thing anyway.

Breakfast was excellent. Room was comfy - a little cold when I got there and I couldn't get the radiator to work but it warmed up anyway, so no problem. Very convenient for the town centre.

Room and facility are a bit worn around the edge. Bathroom floor could maybe have used a bit deeper clean. I overheard one female staffer telling people not to bother her when she wasn't working. Might be better if she didn't hang around or perhaps had this conversation in a place where there were not guests/patrons. There was another young person wandering around talking to staff. Couldn't tell if they were employee or friend or what. Wearing headphones the whole time. A bit strange

I took the train up from London. Easily walkable with my luggage. The bar staff was helpful while I waited to check in and food was good. The staffer at the desk was friendly and helpful. The bed was really comfy and was pretty quiet for location. The bartender and desk staff were extremely helpful both on arrival and at check out

We couldn't have breakfast as waited over 30min and no one came to order and then ran out of time. Not sure if just that day and staffing but unless you had a long time to wait it wasn't viable to have breakfast there. Shame as we heard the chef was very good.

Staff, parking and location were all great. Cosy bar and nice atmosphere. Bit dated but I think for the price is a good accommodation choice. Would stay again.

Very steep stairs if you are elderly or disabled. But understandable as it's a very old building.

Breakfast was nice but we had drank the tea before the breakfast arrived. But there was only one member of staff serving the breakfast.

Lovely location of room. We were in room 1. a little noisy above us at times. The room was very cosy, and very spacious. The food was excellent.

Just wish I could afford to stay here more often, especially during summer.

I have mobility issues, and the Vine staff always do their best to ensure i am put in the level access room off the courtyard. Always a warm welcome and excellent service.

The floors and walls are quite thin unfortunately. You can easily here the people above you walking around, or people / the TV next door if at a moderate to high volume level. If you're someone who is highly sensitive to this, it could pose a problem for you.

The room was very clean, and the bed was immensely comfortable. My girlfriend and I had a good sleep. The staff were also very friendly.

Desperate shortage of staff which resulted in poor customer service. This is not a criticism of the individual members of staff, they all worked extremely hard and were completely run off their feet. However, upon our arrival we found one lady who was running the bar, taking food orders and checking people in all by herself. She was very friendly and polite and did the best she could but people were left waiting at the bar for a long time to get served ( not her fault ). It also took a long time to check people in because she was so busy. On Saturday morning we found another lady also run ragged serving in the restaurant and helping in the kitchen completely on her own. We waited 15 minutes at our table while the poor girl ran backwards and forwards to and from the kitchen before we left to get breakfast elsewhere as it was quite apparent that it was going to be a long wait to order. Again, this isn’t a criticism of these two lovely ladies. It’s the shortsightedness of the management that’s to blame. I hope the situation improves for the sake of the staff if nothing else.

Beautiful, clean, rustic inn located perfectly for the town and Gatehouse Theatre.
