Only one toilet on our floor for several rooms. Hand dryer didn't work.

I honestly have nothing negative to say. With this basic level of accommodation, me and my friend were both very pleasantly surprised with how comfortable we both were. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this location for anyone looking for a good value base to their hiking holiday.

This site has all the facilities you need and they are all done very well. The bunks we're extremely comfortable and the toilet and shower facilities were clean and always maintained to a high standard. Food was also excellent with breakfasts and evening meals providing the perfect start and finish to your days walking. The staff were all very accommodating and friendly and the location could not be better, with a short 20 minute walk to the main through road as well as the paths to start exploring this truly incredibly part of the country.

Beautiful old building with amazing character and superb value for money. Welcoming atmosphere and staff and the nature of YHA is you always end up chatting to other interesting people when in the communal eating area. Just an absolutely fantastic stay on our overnight motorcycle tour of Dartmoor. The perfect antidote to over priced, unecessary accomodation prices everywhere else. Loved it and definitely going to make a return trip in the future 😎👍

The only missing this we felt is about not having any cupboard in the room as we didn't have anything to hang our clothes. The bunk beds are not very comfortable.

Location and the value of stay, overall excellent facilities are there in its self service kitchen.

Bedroom walls were thin which could be a problem if you are a light sleeper.

Check-in is available up to 8:30 PM. A detail that is very easy to overlook if you are booking on the go and not checked the details of the confirmation email. Thankfully the lady on reception stayed late waiting for our arrival despite not been able to get in touch for confirmation of arrival time

Very friendly atmosphere with nice service, best location for Tor walking tour around the moor. You can also enjoy relaxing and comfortable interaction with other guests, if you want to.

Other guests not washing their cutlery properly: dirty forks and knives are not a good start to a meal. The room I was in had two bunk beds taking up all the space, it felt like it was almost blocking the way going in, the room would really need to be a couple of square meters larger to accommodate these two beds in that angle.

The location is amazing, it is in an idyllic setting: literally the most beautiful forest I have ever seen. The host was very helpful and agreed that we would be able to check in late. The period building is beautiful.

It was our first staying in hostel, but fortunately we had a Dartmoor. Everything was sparkling clean and room was very warm. Also we could have a tea at the spacious kitchen, which was great after our long journey. When we came at the hostel it was almost a midnight, so we could not have any chance to see what is outside. But on the next morning we were so amazed with nature of that area

Was just abit out of the way when coming back late at night as the lanes and areas can be abit spooky when driving.

With little light pollution the stars are amazing g at night . Come and go as we please . Staff suffer super nice .

The whole experience was spot-on. I loved the location, tucked away in the middle of Dartmoor, and the buildings, and the food and drink provision was a refreshing change from my memory of youth hostels from years ago. The breakfast baps and coffee were smashing (I had imagined it was going to be a sad sausage and single rasher in a burger bap. It was considerably better than this!). It was also slightly amazing that they had a four bed shared room available at short notice in the middle of the summer. I love it when a plan comes together.

We thought the communal kitchen was closed but it was open & we could've used it, (but we were actually quite pleased we didn't know as we had the the YHA pizzas, (gluten & gluten-free versions), & they were delicious).

Our first time in YHA & so pleasantly surprised that we are looking at another YHA for our next trip away.

The beds are not large enough for some tall people

The location of the YHA in the middle of the Dartmoor national park was perfect for a quick overnight stay. The english breakfast was very nice as well as the communication at the reception
