Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomYou need more gluten free/vegan options at breakfast. The only gluten-free thing I was offered was rice cakes - it would be advised to have at least one gluten free cereal or gluten free toast available to guests.
Bed was comfy, room was very clean, location was great, staff were friendly

United StatesSome noise while sleeping in our room with its own bathroom- sounded like someone doing laundry below us during the night.
Breakfast was included but we had to leave earlier to get to the ferry to Wales. Good location- near shops and pubs.

JapanThey just provide essentials. You have to pay some euros for secured storage, and 3 euros for a rental towel.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious. The location was excellent, so close to the bus stop from and to the airport. If you just need to have sleep and spend most of the time for sightseeing, I would strongly recommend it.

Czech RepublicI appreciated the breakfast in price, because it allowed us (travelling on budget) eat much better, than we otherwise would do. Abbey Court hostel is a living place with great atmosphere.

CanadaThe curtains around the bed went from ceiling to floor, which was nice, but it was a single curtain for the top & bottom bunk so if the person above or below you wasn't careful they would open your bunk in the middle of the night.
Very friendly and informative staff. The included breakfast was plentiful, hot, and tasty

AustraliaGreat location, it was in the heart of the city! Very close to many bus stops. The hostel had a great vibe, staffs were friendly, room was pretty good, and had heaps of toilets which meant you did not have to wait for fellow travellers. Breakfast was included, which was pretty sweet, and they had quite a few selections.

PortugalFor the price I was expecting a little more of the rooms. The low point was when I found hair in the shower, from the previous guests. That made me even question the sheets and the towels. The Twin room is really small for two people to stay more than one weekend.
The location of the Hostel is great, really close to downtown. The Staff members are fantastic and always available. The whole vibe is nice and cozy. If you’re searching for a place just to sleep in, during a quick visit to the City, during the weekend, it will do.

It has the perfect location. All the tourist sites are close. They also offer different activities, like movie night, ping pong tournament,… It has a kitchen which guests can use, which comes in very handy.

PortugalThe 12-bed dorm was smaller than expected from pictures and the curtains for my room worked for both top and bottom beds, which was not ideal. Room was a bit on the warm side with ventilation coming only from a small window opening and a single fan that was turned on 24/7.
The location is excellent, hard to beat. Staying so close to most attractions was very nice. The hostel is very spacious and there was plenty of people to socialize with around the shared spaces, like the kitchen and the games room. The staff was very helpful at all times.

AustraliaStaff at desk were not very helpful/friendly. Maybe because I wasn't a young backpacker (early 50's). Very expensive I felt for a night in a dorm bed with slow wifi.
Location was great, right in the heart of the city, just over the bridge from the Temple Bar area, everything was within walking distance.

IrelandThe Breakfast open time is too late 7:30 , we were many clients woke up about 6 and needed to leave before 7:30 so it s pity that many of us weren't able to enjoy the included breakfast . Each experience will depend also about the respect provided by the others clients with who you share your room , but the light was an issue also Absence of bed light (We had small wall lights but no switch, so they were useless.) so it was a real issue : each time that a new client come inside the room, they turned the ceiling light , what is a terrible issue during the night for the ones who sleept already because probably of early commitments the next day. So it will be nice to have a light with button in each bed , and curtains which will cover all of the bed place , mine wasn't working in the totality of my bed so when the light turn on I was all the time woke up . The new arrivals were speaking as if they were alone in the room in the middle of the night also .... I think it could be important that the staff repeat the good rule in a share room , because these clients were nice but they just didn't realise what was to be in a share room ( in Ireland is common but not in all countries ) Our bedroom was directly on a main road in Dublin, so it was very noisy until 2-3 am ( same with ear protection ) as there was probably no double glazing
Clean everywhere as possible ( toilet , shower, bedroom, dinning room , and kitchen) Kitchen : spacious, all we need and a free food space Staff , helpfull. Smiling , and taking time with each clients Localisation : in the heart of Dublin Price : accessible for each budget
