How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

A bit outdated. Ample parking space.

A strange city in many ways; walking from the centre of Chianciano Terme's "new city" area to Albergo Giglio, we walked 6-7 blocks, past several dozen large tourist-oriented hotels, most closed and shuttered. Few restaurants and of the few open, with restaurants, we were turned away at all, being told that their restaurants were for "Registered Guests Only"!! Completely bizarre; of the three hotel restaurants, none was perhaps 10% occupied and we were told to go 3-4 kms. to the "old city" to get a meal. Tired of a full day of driving and looking to walk for exercise, we finally gained a promise of a set price dinner alongside a booked bus tour of Germans seniors, but were deliberately sat at a maximum distance from all other tourists. Dinner was okay but unremarkable, as I would have expected from small town Ontario in the 1960s. Odd place, dozens of shuttered hotels.
Alergo Giglio is a large modest hotel, recently painted with some new bathroom fitting and very plain, almost IKEA-like furnishings. Good value for the money; quiet as much due to the scarcity of guests as for the heavy concrete construction. The provided breakfast layout was good with fresh fruit, cereals, cheese and some meats and selection of nicely-baked goods. Good expresso/capucinno coffees served by helpful staff. Clean, modest at a modest price.

Room was rather basic with small TV and no facilities. No soundproofing so could hear people talking downstairs.
Very friendly and helpful owners, let me keep my bike in reception and explained where to eat. Bathroom was adequate with good hot shower. Very good breakfast. Quiet location.

The hotel is clean, well-maintained and conveniently located close to the centro storico, which is a great plus; another benefit is the parking but nothing can beat the friendliness and kindness of the owner - the lovely Jamila, who not only makes the most wonderful cakes but is always there for her guests with her smile and good advice. We had a room with a view to the rolling hills of Tuscany and Trasimeno lake and a small ice-box and we spent a memorable week in Chianciano.

Great for exploring the surrounding area. 17 minutes drive from Montepulciano ! Free parking. Friendly welcome. Much needed Aircon. Amazing homemade cakes for breakfast and coffee served at the table. Cheap and really great value for money.

Internet connection unfortunately was not very good. The hair dryer was very noisy and the bathroom in general was not very practical: there was no shower curtain or shower stall so water splashed everywhere in the bathroom (as the shower was just next to toilet seat) and we had to dry everything in the bathroom including the toilet seat and floor with towels after shower
I liked the buffet breakfast and specially the fresh apple cake was my favorite! Customer service was also very good and the air conditioning worked perfectly. The bed was comfortable and there was enough room in the wardrope for our clothes and suitcases. We enjoyed our stay in the hotel very much.

Exceptional breakfast, different kind of homemade cakes, cookies - tasty, fresh made. Very good coffie. Staff was very kind, helpful. They give us very good advice about surroundings, and also offered a salt breakfast.

The air conditioning did not work well enough to cool off the room, so it was very uncomfortable. Although the hotel advertises a restaurant, it was not open and had not been for some time.
The hotel is located up a side street so it was quiet. The room was adequate. The staff were nice and the breakfast was very good. Good pizza restaurant within walking distance.
