How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Shared bathroom, breakfast was bad, no proper blackout curtains in the bedroom
It was close enough to the airport that we could just walked to the place without having to pay the 10€ for the bus/ferry to go to the city. We were spending only one night in Venice and leaving to another town the next day.

There was some construction noice at the morning. But it didn't really bother us because we only stay one night.
Breakfast was good. Diego was very helpful and gave good instructions how to get to the b&b.

The host wasn’t entirely candid about details: - the ‘shuttle’ was a shuttle bus to a car park (costing €7.50pp, not €5). - the B&B was self check-in, taking breakfast from the fridge (the host was not on site) - we got a message on the day to say that there was building work to the outside of the property - but this meant workmen starting up before 8am and they were working on scaffolding right outside the window shortly after 8am. We didn’t get the restful lay-in planned!
Convenient for a late flight.

The building is undergoing some renovation work, we weren't sure if opening the windows will result in a lot of dust coming in. Would have appreciated if we were informed ahead of our visit. That being said, the rooms are well maintained and clean.

The owner didn't say that the building has renovations on the exterior - it looked like a construction site and not a guest house.
Nier to the airport. We had a Silver apartment - it was big and comfortable. The kitchen was good with everything that we needed. The owner gave clear instructions that helped us get and check inaccurately.

I picked it because it was closest to the airport but it was actually a pain to get back to the airport unless you took a taxi/Uber
They communicated very well and were very helpful. Breakfast was good.

There were too many mosquitoes. I think their numbers will increase when the weather gets warmer. The area needs to be sprayed a lot. In addition, you cannot order food through food applications, you have to call and order.
Firstly, the location of the house is marvellous. We were very pleased that breakfast was included in the price.

all was good. Nothing to dislike for the price and accommodation
So conveniently situated. Easy to get into with the key system. Room was great. Could do with getting the lights sorted in the kitchen but thats a minor detail. Will be using the place again when we are passing through

The ease of finding it and the beautiful home. We loved the little extras (breakfast laid out with multiple options, welcoming note on the wall) the above and beyond to help book/reserve us a taxi for the wee hours of the morning. It was a fantastic spot to rest our weary travelled bodies before going home.

My husband and son enjoyed the breakfast, the host are accommodating and helpful with my queries and waited for us to welcome as we arrived late in the evening. My son like the trampoline at the backyard and it feels like home.

The b&b is very clean, comfortable and pleasant. Diego was extremely helpful and responsive before and during our stay. The breakfast spread was great. The location is very convenient to the airport and there's a bus stop right at the end of the street.

It was hard to lift the heavy luggage upstairs. Another guest entered my room with her own keys. It seemed they are all the same..
