Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesWhat an awesome place. It far exceeded our expectations. It was rustic and authentic and really is located in a medieval village from the 16th century. We walked around the village looking at the ancient streets and imagining what life was like there 450 years ago. The entire place should be a museum so to stay there was a real treat. It was actually better than many of the tourist attractions on our itinerary. Lorenzo was a great host, and brought us wine in the evening and a great breakfast in the morning. It is best to arrive before sundown as it is a little difficult to find your way around the village at night and find Lorenzos place which is down the narrow streets of the village.

PolandFirst of all - the host. Owner called himself - "man of the sea", but on that night, for us, he was "King of the hill" Medieval village that used to have school and shops and over 200 inhabitants not more than 30 years ago, now has only 10 people living there permanently and 6 of them are our host family. We were welcomed with a glass of local wine, we enjoyed the conversation in English and we loved the area, you could clearly see, that owner has put a lot of effort into the decorations so each of the rooms was having their own character and were still matching to the medieval surroundings. Parking place was provided close by (around 100 meters from the location, obvious you cannot get your car any closer if the streets in the village are 1m wide :) this is a medieval village that gets completely empty after sunset, there are some lanterns so you are not alone in the dark when making nice pictures of narrow streets and old corners, you may experience few cats and (note!) a spider or two - if you expect 5 star hotel with luxurious marble bathrooms, this is probably not the best place for you. But if you search for something special, charming, with most important (clean!) amenities (kitchen, shower) in the rural village with really nice views - we strongly recommend!

SwedenThe location is up in the mountains in a small but real medieval village. The view is very beautiful and it's a really cool place. However you will need to walk for a few minutes from where you park your car. We got the family room that consisted of two floors with one room on each floor and one bathroom on the second floor. The stairs in that room are very steep so watch out. It's not very fancy but it is very uniq and our kids liked it a lot. The owners was very friendly and helpful. We stayed here one night in order to visit La Brinca where we got married 6 years ago. We should definitely stay here again.

RussiaIt is only possible to get there by car and preferably during daylight hours. Be mentally prepared for the presence of insects - you are a guest in their habitat:)
A truly unique experience! A tiny medieval village with a population of no more than 20 people, it seems. Cobbled stone streets, gorgeous green scenery, and fresh air - everything you need to disconnect from modern digitalized life completely. It's been a long time since we've heard such silence at night... The accommodation itself could be described as simple (!) and without frills. But it's worth it!

United StatesThe only thing I didn't like was that out stay was so short. We would have wanted to stay longer but our schedule didn't allow it. I hope to return and really just take in the entire experience and hike the beautiful mountains that surround it.
The breakfast was light and wonderful. The owner even gifted us a new bottle of wine the night we checked in and was very attentive to making us feel comfortable. It was during the slow season, and we had the entire village to ourselves to explore along with the local residents. It was a truly magical experience and I make an effort to return.

AustraliaAfter mastering the serpentines (it's Italy, so that's normal) you step back in time by about 600+ years but with mobile phone chargers. Nestled in the hills in absolute peace and quiet is a quaint little village, where it seems time stands still. Cobbled pathways through arches and up and down stairs you reach the B&B right on the edge of the hill. The rooms are spacious and have all the mod cons but still it feels like you are in Braveheart (for the kids - that's movie from the 90's). Lorenzo - the host - made us feel welcome and whipped up an original pasta dish late in the evening, whilst the family dusted off from the travels. Local vino topped it all of. A perfect find for a quiet stay in the hills not far from the sea and other noteworthy attractions.

NetherlandsWe didn't know exactly where to find the accommodation in the village. We just followed the path and then happened to find the signs at the door which told us the name of the accommodation.
We had a great stay here! The road was easy to drive and the host was very welcoming and kind. The room was perfect and had a cave-like feel, it was awesome! Breakfast was amazing and the cats who kept us company were cute as well :) Will definitely come back here!

GermanyIf you are looking for a nice quiet place without frills, if you want to come to rest, then you are right here. Old mountain village , quaint and rather spartan , great nature , a great base for excursions , time flows differently there. The facilities are simple , but you have everything you need: a shower in the room and a bed. Simple but sufficient breakfast , delicious coffee , super nice and friendly host , great house wine , enough space for parking , you can take your dog with you… The only thing that took some getting used to for me were the serpentine roads, but even that I managed . I can recommend it from the heart and will surely come again
