Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe stairs on the way up. If you're walking everywhere and don't want to have to deal with stairs all the way to the top floor, then more stairs up to the main apartment part you stay in, don't do it.
It was perfect for me because, as a guest, I hate being looked after and catered on. I got a room, there was a fridge, an aircon and window. It was all I needed and it was made better by the fact that I could walk to everything from the location.

SpainThe kitchen cutlery and items to use to cook were not sufficient for me.
The location, the environment, and the space I had just for me, which included the bedroom, a corridor above which connected my room with the bathroom.

GermanyHowever, between the hotel and the Via Etnea, there are some rather crowded streets that sometimes look a bit shady at night.
Location is very close to the city's high street "Via Etnea". Every tourist attraction can be easily reached by walking. A very helpful host who will give you good advice on how to spend your time in Catania. Also, a supermarket and daily market are practically next door. It was extremely hot outside, but the AC managed to keep my room cool.

United KingdomI liked it all very much. But vacationers need to take into account that the apartment is located on the 4th floor without an elevator. For me it was fitness ...
Great location, center, restaurants, market, Lidl - everything is close and at the same time quiet apartment. Kitchen, shower, everything you need was. The road to the beach took 30 minutes - first a walk to the bus through the center and then a bus ride route D to the beach for 1€. I had a great time and will definitely visit this place again.

AustraliaEither I missed the information but I didn't know I had to climb 4 flights of stairs to the accomodation. Very necessary in case the customer is not able to carry luggage.
Location was very convenient for my needs Air conditioning was necessary under the extreme weather conditions. There was a fridge in the kitchen. Local outdoor market was very handy to have just around the corner.

Finland-
The room is really comfy. It was in a different level from the rest of the space, so I had a lot of room and privacy. The location is great, close to the main street and market, yet on a more quiet side street. I was happy with the arrangement for the breakfast, as I was allowed to eat it in any of the many close by cafes. I would definitely stay here again.

LithuaniaWhen arriving, I was walking Piazza Carlo Alberto street which is very close to the properly, that street seemed pretty rough, but during the day it's fine, once you get used to it.
Great location, you can reach the main street with shops and place to eat just within 2minutes walk, the metro is about 7min away. They had a massive street market just outside of the apartment. The host was helpful and nice, and overall good value for money.

HungaryIt was very cold in the room because it had not been heated before my arrival, and the walls and furniture were constantly blowing out the cold, even though I tried to heat it with an old, noisy, small mobile heater. Also, it was very noisy, so at one point of the night I had to turn it off because I couldn't sleep because of the noise of the mobile heater fan.
The owner allowed to place my baggage in the room earlier than the check-in time. The location was good, clise to the city center.

GreeceThe b&b is located at the heart of the city. It is also easily reached by Alibus from Catania airport and in less than half an hour, you can find the Casa Nipitella. It is located at the upper floor of a palazzo, -no lift available, for those who may carry a heavy luggage. The room is simple, clean and quite pleasant. The air conditioning was working fine, so was the wifi. The bathroom was also very clean. Use of the kitchen is provided. The location is close to the central bus station, a 15' min walk.

Location is great. Near the market in piazza Carlo alberto. A bit noisy, but tolerable. In the center, just a litt bit of walking and your in the beautiful part of catania. Wifi is great Room is okay with shared bathroom. With a view from the back of the house, home neighbours view. Barely in the room, just to sleep. good value for the money. Not really something special. The owner of the house is also there staying in house can use the kitchen i think. Bed mattress was comfortable but the bed is a bit noisy 😉

The best about this place is the owner! You get a unique experience, communication with locals, great stories and recommendations. The place definitely has a character and atmosphere. Huge thanks to Massimo for showing me the city, telling about architecture and history of Catania, showing the city from "inside". Also it was sooo kind and sweet to treat me with a breakfast in the cafe! Location is perfect, just in the heart of the city, so it's really very easy to see the centre of Catania by walk. Many cafes and bars around.
