Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandThe place felt a bit cramped overall but the room itself was sufficient for our needs. We took a triple room and there were 4 beds available.
Clean, comfortable. The host was very helpful and accommodating. There is a cafe just round the corner where you can get breakfast (croissant, pastries, etc) and sandwiches. We did not see any restaurant close by. The place is not within walking distance of anything. It is situated near the Vatican but takes about ~20 mins if you want to walk there. There is a bus stop across the street so no problem getting to anywhere. Closest metro station is about 10 mins walking with some parts along a busy highway with small sidewalks.

United StatesHard to get in with several old lock and keys. Also, I’m just not use to a bathroom outside of my room but the price makes up for it.
Very clean. Jon was so helpful with his advice on getting around and helping me out with a conversation plug.

GermanyThe plaster falls of the walls in our room. The shower is outside but we already knew that before.
Very friendly staff who helped us Infos and everything we needed. It's a 30 min walk into the city center and 15 min walk to the entrance of the Vatican. For the price we paid it was really worth it.

United KingdomWe couldn't really open the main room windows as there was a gap between the air con unit and the guard...not an issue for adults or children but a concern for anyone smaller like a toddler. Can the guard be made more secure to prevent any gaps? Our room was cleaned wonderfully on day 1 and 2, and then not at all on day 3 An oversight, I am sure.
John greeted us in such a warm way which makes all the difference in a long road trip, or any trip. The room was of a good size and the bathroom useful. The fridge was a great feature and the cold water left is a thoughtful touch. The tea and coffee making feature on the corridor is lovely, and creates a potential for a little socialising. The air conditioning was great. Parking is free if you can get it. If not, there are other free spots nearby. Location for vatican access is excellent and for the 46 and 49 buses.

United StatesLocation is not really within close walking distance of many things (at least 10 to 15 minutes for most restaurants and to the Vatican). I use a CPAP, and, on the first night, I could not plug it in along with the air conditioner without blowing the circuit. The second night, I was offered an extension cord and plugged it into the bathroom, which fixed the problem.
Good value for 4 people. Host was exceptionally kind and accommodating. Beds were comfortable.

IcelandThere were no instructions on how to turn on the fan. The instructions on the door were only about the air conditioning unit but we didn't have one of those in our room. The external bathroom was a bit of an inconvenience but it was my bad for accidentally choosing when making the booking.
The bed was really comfortable which is one of the biggest pluses when it comes to staying outside of your own home. The bedroom was very clean which is a great value. There's a nice store right outside where you can get good freshly made sandwiches for little money and there's also bus station right outside.
