Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaHotel Faraglione offers simple, clean and recently refurbished rooms. It has been family owned since the 50’s and there was a genuine islander warmth — the friendly staff immediately made us feel welcome. The hotel is located next to the ferry which is a perfect location for travellers arriving by foot. We visited during January and the small tourist-oriented community was quiet except for a few necessity shops, one cafe and the grocery store. We had perfect weather and climbed the island’s namesake volcano to the steaming crater. Incredible place and nice little community!

The hotel is beautiful, with nice views, and the land has lots of fruit trees and birds. Francesca, the owner, was very kind and helpful. We loved our breakfast of fresh-squeezed orange juice, coffee, and pastries.

SpainThe bedding and towels were rather old.
The location was great, next to the port and a restaurant/bar that is open even in November. The staff was kind, the room large and very correct, and the breakfast, which was at the bar, was great. The location is also convenient for the hike to the crater.

JapanThere was no bottled water provided in the refrigerator. When I asked about it, I was told that it was a reasonable hotel. I stayed at 14 inns, but this was the only one that didn't have bottled water. When you finally arrive at your hotel on a hot summer day, it's nice to have cold water in the fridge. I'll be happy if there's water in the fridge next time I go. It would have been nice to have a little more explanation and information about the island.
The hotel where we were greeted by a smiling Mr. Mirella and a kind Mr. Lorenzo is located right in front of the harbor where we can see the ships heading to the Aeolian Islands. It's lively during the day and has a travel atmosphere at night. Although the terrace is shared, it is very spacious and comfortable. The breakfast served at the cafe below is simple but delicious. Currently, you can't go into the mud hot springs, but there were a lot of people there, so I went in. There are hot springs, the ocean, and a rocky mountain that you can climb that resembles a volcano, making it a convenient and fun place rich in nature. There is also a supermarket nearby. Lipari Island seems to be popular, but I love this island! I stayed in 14 places on my first trip to Sicily and Vulcano was really good.

PolandIt doesn't get more convenient than this, with the ferry terminal two minutes away, supermarkets and all the restaurants marginally further, and the magnificent view from the shared terrace! We particularly enjoyed watching the big ferries (Siremar) come and go... The room isn't particularly impressive but with very efficient aircon, modern bathroom and reasonable beds it is more than sufficient. The breakfasts in the cafe below are a gift and are served generously, so you can have freshly pressed orange juice, a croissant, a coffee of your choice AND a granita. Absolutely delicious!

ItalyFairly spartan in terms of amenities, but nevertheless just what we were looking for: that retro Italian seaside vibe. Staff were excellent. Super convenient for the volcano hike, mud baths and hot bubbling sea (all officially closed when we visited though that didn't seem to stop people sneaking in (or up) under cover of darkness. October is lowish season but the Faraglione bar/restaurant was buzzing throughout the day and really came alive in the evening. Wonderful atmosphere.

The location was ideal, next to the ferry with very friendly staff who gave us some good advice. Our room was on the top floor with direct access to the terrace and a beautiful view on the sea and volcano. Great Sicilian breakfast (with brioche and granite with cream, but we also had bread, nice coiffe and fresh orange juice), served by lovely smiling waitress. Amazing time and so close to the volcano trek, the warm beach and the black sand beach too. Make sure to rent a scooter to discover the rest of the island!

PolandWe loved the location, the shared terrace, the modern bathroom, super efficient aircon and, last but not least, the staff. Oh, and the breakfast in the cafe downstairs was superb - a delightul choice, including sweet and savoury foods, freshly pressed orange juice, coffee and, if you are into it, some delicious granita. Despite the hotel's proximity to the harbour and the sulphur vents, the hotel is surprisingly quiet AND the sulphur smell doesn't really reach it. All in all, a delight! 💗
