Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Stateswe were not given the room we paid for. we reserved a larger room with terrace, chairs table and recliners - we were given a small terrace with a partially blocked view and only table chairs. it made a difference for us. be sure to confirm the terrace size and amenities as you reserve, before you check in and as you check in.
the property was beautiful, 10 minute walk to Amalfi central, beautiful views, all as expected. staff was great- hospitable, kind, helpful.

Location was great! Staff was friendly and helpful. The host Pino was very accommodating. He moved us to a room downstairs so that we did not have to continue to walk up the stairs. Breakfast and Dinner was exceptional! We did the zip line and it was amazing!

Big boss pretended like arriving with an extra child was a problem. It wasn’t really a problem as she was sharing our bed. But you know, whatever. He was great though.

BelgiumJust one minor thing: I struggled a bit with the many buttons in shower but that's only a detail. Overall we had a really a great stay.
Fantastic views from the room and the restaurants. Very quiet location, yet only a short drive away from Amalfi ant the famous coast. Free and safe parking for the car. Nice breakfast and excellent food and wine in the evening, in a very nice setting underneath the lemon trees. Last but certainly not least, all staff members are very friendly and welcoming.

IsraelThe owner is not guilty for that of course, but one has to know that arriving to the location at dark requests quite a good expertise in driving, since when you come from the littoral zone the road is uphill, narrow and tortuous. It is recommended to arrive by daylight. An important thing to know, but which doesn't diminish the very high quality of Fico D'India Relais.
Warm welcome and very nice room, with great view on the sea. Owner and staff very forthcoming, Very comfortable room, modern bathroom. Very good breakfast. Under every aspect, this is an almost perfect place to stop for two or three days during a trip in this wonderful region. We had only a one-night stay, but can absolutely recommend Fico D'India Relais.

IsraelOne of the special places in the Amalfi region. A little far and quiet which is exactly what is needed after full days of travel. Pino, the owner of the place, is a charming and special person, since breakfast he welcomes every guest with a greeting and a smile and answers every question and offers tours and trips and treks in the area. The meal is definitely enough and tasty to start the day. The hotel is interestingly laid out on the side of the mountain and there are enough parking spaces, which is a must in this area. There are many outdoor areas and sitting and sunbathing areas in the hotel. The view from the room is simply magical. In the evening there is no need to travel to the nearest city because Pino admires an excellent restaurant with special dishes that we didn't get to taste everything but what we ate was excellent. For all reasons the place is simply excellent and we will definitely return with the family.

AustraliaI stayed at Fico d'India for a few days in between photographing a wedding on the coast, and it was the perfect little spot to spend a few days. The food at the restaurant is seriously delicious and the staff are all super kind. If you're looking from somewhere a little removed from the crazy busy-ness of the Amalfi Coast, while still being able to do some nice day trips, this is a great place to stay!

United KingdomSome suggestions for improvement, but they are minor. The shower was above a large jacuzzi bath, with no shower curtain. The shower head had been mounted very low on the wall to minimize spray, yet still regularly wetted the bathroom floor. I personally would have preferred a conventional shower. In the bathroom, space to put toiletry bags would be helpful. In the wardrobe, I could happily use twice as many hangers. At breakfast, it would be good to have more granola/muesli options, including nuts and seeds, and a non-dairy milk (eg. almond). At night it was hard to find good settings for the air conditioner, we were either too hot or too cold -- I think the trick was to put it in a different mode. An ironing board would be useful for crazy people who like to iron. Occasionally we could hear the music of the neighboring rooms. Due to the spread-out style of accommodation and the number of stairs, I wouldn't recommend to people who have mobility problems.
Overall this is a great place to stay. It's well run and the (family?) owners are thoughtful, friendly and helpful. It feels something like a small hotel spread between several buildings on the mountainside. Our room was in a separate building, reached by quite a few stairs, with its own off-street parking, which made it feel a little like an apartment even though really it was just a room. There's a restaurant on site, with views, which is pretty good and usually quite busy and, as a result, more vibey than I expected. The rooms are simply but nicely decorated, with high ceilings and tasteful use of tiles, wooden furniture, decorative ceramic light fixtures, little ceramic tables, and local Amalfi-style decor features. A pair of French doors with both net and proper curtains, plus working faux-wooden shutters, led onto a tiny terrace, actually more of a balcony, with amazing sea views. The bed was comfortable with a top sheet and a rather fine blanket. The pillows were not crazy thick. Everything was impressively clean. The wifi worked great and was not hard to access. The bathroom was large, with both overhead and mirror lighting, and the shower worked well. An iron was available on request. The air con worked well and was easy to control. Breakfast is served on an open-air terrace, with a nice range of continental options and decent coffee. I really liked the inclusion of traditional Italian cakes and things like grilled zucchini and melanzane. It was a relaxing place to stay, up on the hillside, with no road noise and, for the most part, only a distant cockerel and the bells of some goats interrupting the silence. It's a good option if you have a car or don't mind catching buses.
