Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

RussiaThe room was a bit strange, it was long and very narrow with a window that actually opened into the room of the house on the opposite side of the street, a bit scary experience. Corridors, the lobby, the elevator, - everything is very narrow. The facade and entrance group are currently under renovation, I could hardly find a hotel, there was no sign. The construction workers were having breakfast together with the hotel guests, which was a bit loud for early morning
The location is great, an authentic historical house very close to the Central Station .

UkraineUnfortunately, the wifi was really slow and my mobile internet didn’t work because of “no connection” there. Also some renovation would be great but for this price it was a great stay!
The location is great, 10 mins from the railway station. The stuff was very nice and friendly. Also, I really liked the breakfast

United KingdomThe air-con was very loud and didn't come with a proper remote / instructions so it was a little bit of guess work from us. The corridors were very warm in comparison to the rooms as they had no air-con. The lift is very old and small so if there is one other person travelling you have to wait some time.
Location is good - very close to the pedestrian area of the city for tourism. Very close to the port, the main station and also a funicular railway. Breakfast was good, not lots of choice but as it's included, I wasn't expecting much. Nice orange juice machine.

RomaniaDiversify the breakfast
Breakfast was ok, but without vegetables. The bathroom was small but I understand that it was in a old pallace like the most of the hotels in Genova. It was an advantage to have a bathroom in room.

South KoreaThe air conditioning in the room is a bit old and one in my room had the buttons that was illegible. Had to trial and error to found out how to make it work.
I had to book last minute because my previous booking was canceled. So it was a bit above my usual price range. The hotel has a bit of a 70~80s movie feel which to be fair i felt it was charming. Morning buffet was great and location is close enough to everything from train, bus station and most landmarks. All in all definitely a good experience.

BulgariaVery small and dark room but we were in the room only for sleeping, so it did not matter that much.
The staff was very friendly and helpful, smiling. Very easy to reach the hotel from the station - 5 min walk. Complimentary water upon arrival in the room. Quiet room. We could check-in and get the keys at 10.30 am - much earlier than 2 p.m. Free orange fresh juice for breakfast.

ItalyThey gave us a bigger room than the one I booked considering maybe that we have two kids. The breakfast was a typical Italian breakfast. The coffee was great. The staff are approachable and are willing to extend the extra mile. Location is great as it is near to tourist spots. I strongly recommend this hotel. Will definitely come back of given the chance again to visit the wonderful city of Genova🙌.

Our room window was overlooking Piazza Della Nunziata . Breakfast is excellent. NetherlandsThe only downside for me was the bathroom area which was a bit corrosive, giving not so clean impression.
Hotel Helvetia is well located with Piazza Principe train station and attractions being minutes away by walking. There are multiple restaurants and bars too. The hotel room we booked is decent in size with neat bed. The staff were also kind to provide water in the fridge to drink. A simple nice gesture for steaming days of our trip. The breakfast set was good with array of choices.

FranceIt's not the hotel's fault, but there is a bar close by and I could hear people talking late into the night - happily no blasting music. I used earplugs and this did the trick.
The location of this hotel is excellent - close enough to the train station to walk with bags (about 10 minutes), and right at the edge of both the medieval quarter and the streets with palaces. Also not very far from the port. The staff was very pleasant and the room was cleaned beautifully. It is not a luxury address but perfectly comfortable.

ItalyCar parking was not available at the time of our arrival despite we were assured it was reserved by the property. We arrived at 15pm (check-in available from 13pm), and our room was not clean yet. After some complaining we were given another room that was fine anyway. The building, the furniture (mattresses and stuff around the room) is really old fashioned and stinky, though clean. The stairs to reach the upper floor where the rooms are located are really steep and quite dangerous for kids. The elevator, corridors and rooms doors are really narrow, not really accessible if you’re traveling with kids, trolleys and luggages, or wheelchairs. There were a lot of noises coming from the street (cars, ambulances, motorcycles, …), even overnight, not really comfortable for sleeping.
Great position in the city, close to all the most noticeable attractions. The staff was professional and gentle, wishful to find solutions. Breakfast ok.
