Since it’s a natural cave, it’s convenient to open up the windows or turn on the Air conditioning since the cave can get humid during the night. However it’s a unique experience to be inside the cave.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at La Corte Dei Pastori Luxury in Matera, Italy, and it was an unforgettable experience. Amazing room, great view from the private terrace, bed and sofa were huge and super comfortable, very nice and helpful hosts, beautiful garden, location was nice and quiet (apart from the stupidly loud wooden bird whistles being sold in the plaza just below us...the guy seems to sell them most of the afternoon so it's not great if you want to go back and relax on the terrace in the afternoon)

The stairs, but that is Matera! Also the safe was broken but we felt very safe!

Staying in a real cave is an authentic experience ! This suite was a extra big one and we did not feel closed in. Lots of natural light. The owners were so sweet and they take care of everything, cooking, cleaning, managing and getting us a taxi. Also helped with luggage as there are a lot of stairs to get to the b&b!

I understand limitations of the facility but the bathroom could be better isolated from the bathroom. Having just a kind of thin curtain which doesn't even close properly between the spaces feels a bit awkward even of travelling as a couple.

The room placed in the cave was truly unique. It felt very private with exit directly to the outside so you couldn't hear or see any neighbours from inside. Each room has its own terrace with amazing views of Matera. No need to look for other viewpoints as it doesn't get better than this. Breakfast ws excellent too, especially considering it's just a continental Italian style one.

Nothing, it was fantastic and unique.

Beautiful location, we had a great terrace overlooking the square but it also have privacy and the most beautiful views. Breakfast was served in the lovely nearby courtyard and was very good. The coffee was good( we are fussy) and it was warm enough to sit outside every day. Our room was massive and had everything we needed. Despite it being a large cave, it was dry, very well ventilated and beautiful. The WiFi was better than we have at home, that was a pleasant surprise.

Just be aware there is a city tax that must be paid in cash at check in. This isn’t apparent when booking on here.

This room is unreal. The location is a dream. The views are surreal. The room is huge and comfortable. I walked all over Matera and couldn’t identify a better location for a room. I would book it again if I returned. The breakfast included is large and lovely. Lots of variety. The family running the place are also great.

The location of this house is AMAZING. It's located right in the most interesting part of town and has a beautiful outdoor sitting area that provides the best view of the town, as well as the neighboring hill and river. And it's inside a cave, which was very cool to experience. Everything was clean, the bathroom necessities were provided and the hosts were nice. Highly recommended!

I only wished we’d stayed another night!

What a fantastic B&B in such a perfect setting! We parked at the main carpark in Via Saragat and caught the bus right outside for €1(!) directly to the main square below the B&B. It couldn’t have been a better location. The owners were so kind and welcoming, the free bottled water was a really nice touch. The room itself was spacious despite being in a cave, and the bathroom was just amazing. Throw in a fantastic breakfast on the beautiful terrace and it really was perfection.

This was such a beautiful place to stay - great location and the hosts were absolutely fantastic, so helpful and kind. Breakfast was one of the best that we had in all our time in Italy and it was lovely having it served while sitting on the terrace overlooking the sassi under their fig tree. Couldn't recommend more highly - thanks so much for having us.
