Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandVery humid and cold rooms. Bathtub in the room is not necessary, but maybe a sofa and side table would be. No place to put up the suitcase.
Great place, fantastic food, gorgeous and spicy room

United KingdomThere was no easy free parking, which was fine for us and is pre-warned on their website.
An idyllic spot with welcoming staff, spotless rooms, and a balcony overlooking the square. Loved the elevator access to street level, and perfect proximity to the restaurants we wanted to explore.

AustriaAlthough we were warned that we must park on the edge of the village and that it was a 10 minute walk (with luggage) to the hotel, we had a problem finding the hotel as the name 'Locanda di Orta' is not highlighted nor written in large letters by the entrance. Instead the names 'JRE' and 'Andrea Moressi' are highlighted. As a consequence, we walked up and down the centre for a further 10 minutes, total 20 minutes, always with our luggage. Exhausting!
A hotel in the centre of the village. Excellent breakfast but needed warm clothing as restaurant is on the roof and early morning in late September is not so warm! Same applied to the excellent evening meal in the roof restaurant. (Note the times in the internet are wrong - the restaurant opens at 19.30, not 19.00).

AustraliaNothing.
Breakfast is served on a little terrace overlooking the lake which is lovely. Breakfast was simple but great….a nice feel to the hotel, we enjoyed it. Our room was small so staying several nights and storing cases could be an issue.

United StatesThe room was very light at night. One window only had linen for curtains and did not block out the street lights.
We had a room with a balcony and it was fabulous. The room was nice and had a jet tub in the room. It was right in the square and walking distance to everything

United StatesWe were directly above the restaurant on a Saturday and could hear the hustle and bustle of serving and cleaning late into the night, even with ear-plugs. We otherwise loved the location (and having the balcony!) but I’d pick the floor just above ours if I had to do it again.
We really enjoyed the lovely balcony and jacuzzi tub! Great location within the town. Beautiful views from the roof top breakfast area.

FranceBreakfast was continental style. There was enough food, but a hot option would have been nice to have.
Lovely little hotel in the centre of the old town. Room was a good size and the spa bath was a nice treat. Nice little balcony. We were there during the quiet season so not much noise. It would probably be noisy during the busy period as the room overlooks the street.

United StatesWe had an early flight out from Milan, tried to request an early breakfast ( on rainy day !) , but were told they couldn't do it. We only asked because based on the email sent to us from the hotel we were told it could be arranged as long as they get an advance notice.

Italymany tiny things, but when you add them on, they made for a hotel that pretends to be more than it is. we couldn’t understand how to make the shower working properly (too fancy), the room was really too small to be a double room and the bed too small to be a double bed, it was like a queen size bed with no space to open the suitcase around. the room was also very noisy, there was music in the evening coming from outside. the duvet was not of those that they wash every day, and had an oil spot. the floor was dirty in the corners and below the bed. there was not a second pillow, and the bed was terribly uncomfortable, too soft. there was an used shampoo in the complimentary set. but most of all, breakfast only from 8.30, every day. after reading all of the enthusiastic reviews before, I was a bit deluded.
location is stunning, the staff is exceptionally kind, there were two complimentary bottle of water every day, and a tea set in the room with electric cattle, such a good thing with cold and rainy weather. breakfast was very good.

FranceGiven that the hotel is connected to a Michelin star restaurant, I would have expected more from the breakfast.
The hotel was very well located, right in the centre of San Giulian di Orta, so once you work out that the hotel is not accessible by car and that you need to use the nearby car park (10EUR/day), you're right in the thick of it. Locanda di Orta is very clean, nicely decorated and annexed on to a Michelin star restaurant.

United StatesBreakfast was disappointing. You are lucky to get one coffee before the only staff member diasppears to work another part of the hotel. Fruit was cut up apples and oranges in a jar with optional plain yogurt on the side. I suggest better fruit options in a buffet style situation with less food waste. Perhaps a small coffee machine for those who eat less but need more than one cup of coffee?
Room with balcony was beautiful. Very clean and in an excellent location.

TurkeyThe hotel street is close to the traffic so you have to park and carry the luggage to the hotel. Also there's a very narrow but few steps ladder which also makes it difficult to carry the luggages inside the otel.
The room is small but well equipped, they don't miss a thing. Very relaxing shower heads in the shower. The breakfast is good with delicious jams, croissants, fresh fruits. So close to the city center and the decks.
