We stayed for 3 nights. Right from the time we arrived, we felt calmness. Staff at reception were extremely friendly and welcoming. made us feel at home. Lady in reception Alisse (pardon me if the spelling is wrong) was very polite and guided us the best way to see the city and enjoy popular places. 5 star management. They upgraded our room with river view and left quality Tuscan wine in our room as it was our 25th wedding anniversary and everything they did made it an unforgettable stay. Breakfast was nice and well managed.

The biggest disappointment for me was the hotel’s staff. I’m possibly more disappointed for them rather than with them as their management let them down. I saw potential in a number of younger staff at the hotel but they were left overstretched, due to understaffing, and, seemingly, without proper guidance. More investment should be made in the team, especially the more junior members. Reception was hit and miss. I had a couple of good experiences but the lady who checked me out, in particular, was aggressive and unhelpful. It left a sour taste.

It was located perfectly for this trip: just outside of Florence but close enough for me to get in easily. The hotel also offered a shuttle bus, which was a bonus. The pool was lovely and the building interesting, with a well-appointed room that had a private terrace. The breakfast was good.

Needs some upgrading in the rooms. Service was terrible. Came home from a day of wine tours and the restaurant wouldn’t accept us even though lots of free tables. As it was quiet, they were wanting to close an hour earlier. Had to get a taxi and find dinner at 10pm, which means 15-20 mins drive. The second problem was leaving and asking instructions on where to leave our car to visit Florence. Was not helpful and basically told us we couldn’t visit florence because there was a bike race on that day. Big queues at the front desk, i heard someone loudly pondering where the pool was and the staff didn’t say anything, so i pointed them to the staircase while in the queue. The front desk woman basically just ended the conversation on “you can’t” very rudely while we stood there. We solved the problem in 2 mins by googling a garage near ponte vecchio that housed the car for 10 euros an hour. On a positive note, the man on duty late on the night we checked in was lovely. He was a credit to the hotel. If you are staying use the shuttle service as the taxis are very expensive and often put a pick up fee on top.

Hotel needs a little bit of a refurbishment but it’s still amazing! Beautiful grounds. Amazing views!

Loud party on the first night, didn’t sleep till 3am hotel. Room must be above the kitchen or restaurant, loud banging constant until very late in the evening and early morning. Good helpful staff in general however one member of staff we found rude and unhelpful. Expensive food and drinks considering the prices in local places. Restaurant lacked menu options, take note of the restaurant down the road, better food, value and atmosphere. Bed base needs replacing, stained and dirty.

Room 209- Good size room and bathroom. Housekeeping done a good job everyday. Good size pool, kept clean despite being outside. Shuttle bus reasonable and on time to the minute everyday.

Whilst a pleasant stay, there were various areas that would deter us from staying again. Food - the food was very good but the menu did not change for dinner at all during our 9 day stay. There are few options for kids. The room service is not functional and I had to go downstairs to order room service several times which defied the point of room service! The hotel food isn’t built to eat there frequently enough. I suspect most guests had a car and we’re able to travel to restaurants since there is only one restaurant in walking distance. Location - in reality you need a car to stay here especially if you plan to be in the Centre daily lest the cab costs will mount up. Whilst the shuttle is in place, it’s not frequent enough. Pool - whilst very clean, there’s no staff by the pool. No lifeguard and no staff for pool service.

Great points - the two ladies at front desk are super helpful. The pool is clean and not too busy. The view is lovely. The beds were clean and the décor throughout is beautiful.

the hotel is far from the city. we were planning to take taxi to the city center but it was a 2 day taxi strike (and no Uber) so we had to take the shuttle which goes fairly rarely and air con didn’t work inside it. Rooms are of very different quality. we had booked 2 rooms and one of them was just by the bar (window opens into the bar area), so had to have it always closed and also, was noisy when people were drinking in the evening. 50 eur per night and we were moved into the main building with a great view. dinner menu in the restaurant is very limited and the food quality is not exceptional.

The fact that they didn’t even notice or care to check that we were downgraded automatically by the system, until we noticed something was wrong with the room size and complained, and the first night that we left in that small room.

The hotel Mulino and Villa Olmi Firenze are partner hotels, both have wonderful facilities and beautiful areas, but… I have to say that I would have given 8/10 for Mulino and 10/10 for Villa Olmi, if we weren’t left to stay in the smallest room they have on our arrival, despite reserving a superior river view room that costed 304€ a night excluding breakfast and city taxes. The classic room was not possible to accommodate us two adults and a toddler who was there to celebrate his second birthday. The crib was positioned next to the bed and the other side is the door to exit to street, so we heard everything from people walking by with their suitcases rolling on the stone street to people who were eating at the restaurant… They didn’t even notice that they gave us the wrong room, but my husband did, so I would have had to stay there for 3 nights, if my husband didn’t ask me to check after seeing the room. Upon complaining, we learned that the system automatically downgraded us, as all rooms in our categories were fully booked. They said they couldn’t do anything for that night, but they could only offer us to move to Villa Olmi Firenze tomorrow, so we couldn’t unpack, with all toddler‘s stuff, it was really difficult to live on the suitcases in that tight room, but we had no choices, as we were charged for the first night in advance. Therefore we would rate this experience at Hotel Mulio 2/10! for the lady staff at the reception who tried to find the solution after the complaint and gave complimentary breakfast. We, however, had the rest of two beautiful nights at Villa Olmi Firenze, the staff were kind and polite, the place was amazing, the Deluxe Villa was a dream. We love it and would definitely go back there again. For this the rating of 10/10 no doubt, and we would definitely reserve to stay there directly to avoid being downgraded automatically by the system in the future.

Good grief, the room was so damp and cold, the bedding was damp Every. Night. There was no heat apparent in the room, so no way to drive down / burn off the humidity. I literally had to blow dry my pajamas one night, they were so wet just from sitting in the room all day, and I have read the reviews on several sites, so I KNOW I’m mot the first with this issue (room ten. Don’t accept it!) I had coins on the (wooden, bedside) table on day one of a week long stay, and by the end of the week, they were stuck to the table with a rim of mildew around them. (Pics coming). Furthermore, brand new clothes hung in the closet came out with moth holes. And fees! Good grief. I would rather have everything paid up front than get nickel and dimed to death, but everything costs, from the shuttle (not complimentary and not on your schedule) to the 9 Euros per room service for service that is really only a few feet from where they’d have to carry it anyway. The food is very good, but the variety isn’t there, and the hotel is too far to order much else if you don’t take the shuttle or have a car. And management does not seem to care about customers, which really bothers me. I saw multiple issues arise with other customers in which staff had to take hard line stances and management wouldn’t assist, concede, or otherwise work with customers. This tells me they care more for immediate cash gain than long term guest satisfaction, and in the service industry, that doesn’t fly. Frankly, the four stars is a gift because the lower level staff are working their butts off. But I won’t stay again.

Staff except management were very well trained. Food was excellent. Shower / bath were large, well pressured, and water was hot. Location and facilities gorgeous.

- Very, very damp & cold, to the point of mildew ring growing around coins left on table - see photos in other review - and need for hair dryer use on pajamas before sleep to take out the damp. I believe management is aware of problem because I have seen reviews of same problem from prior reviews. Must be only in this wing or room, but it is quite severe. Should not be given to guests, though, and that indicates managerial lack of concern, which really angers me. - See prior review for the rest.

See review for lengthier stay - great lower level staff, food, and architecture / design. Amenities all there. Upper level management and room comfort of my particular room (and I suspect other rooms on that side of the hotel) not so much.
