Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

JapanIt was a short drive to restaurants, bars and cafes. Not central. The hotel only offers expensive dining, which was not suitable to a family.
Great location for skiing, also the hotel is close to the Shiga ski school. Breakfast was included and very good.

Hong KongRoom is small with poor ventilation. Very tired looking room.
Excellent public area - lobby, lounge, breakfast room and all restaurants. Good staff. Ski in, but not exactly ski out. Expensive but nice French, Japanese and Teppanyaki restaurants.

AustraliaLimited variety of food at night. Essentially only two restaurants that are quite expensive and unsuitable for a long stay. The French restaurant is dated and the whole hotel could do with some refurbishment. The hotel would have been a very desirable place to stay 20 years ago however dining options certainly need to be expanded and updated with a casual family eatery which replicated the lunch menu. No other options are available due to the remote setting.
Very friendly staff and great location at base of ski slope. Rooms are reasonable. Good breakfast and lunch. Ski hire onsite. Great happy hour at the bar in the early evening.

United KingdomWe didn’t go hungry but we felt like the communication for dinner wasn’t great. When we arrived, they were concerned we hadn’t reserved any restaurants. We didn’t realise we had to. We had to wait in our room for a call-didn’t feel good about waiting with no timeframe.
we loved the style, the atmosphere felt like I was on a Kubric film set. the staff were so nice!

AustraliaWe ate in the French restaurant twice with the set menu. The first time was reasonable, but the second meal was very substandard. The fish was dry and the chicken was basic. It was served with a few vegetables and plain lentil beans. I had eaten at this restaurant before from the à la cart menu and was previously quite impressed. Not sure what’s happened.
A true ski in ski out hotel with good rental equipment available. The hotel is quite dated but we quite enjoyed the 70s vibe. The Japanese restaurant was fantastic but the French restaurant was disappointing. The rooms were exceptionally large by Japanese standards but the bathrooms are very dated. Reception staff are really friendly with great English. So a mixed bag, but I would be happy to stay again.

Customer Service is top-notch. They really are helping you. Skii rental and school are run by the same hotel. Convenient. You get everything you need, and just focus on skiing and snowboarding. Free use of washing machine and dryer. Food is delicious! EVERYTHING is available to use at the public bath.

JapanLimited dining nearby. We didn't splurge on the site dinners, although these have to be set up days in advance, so we didn't have the option to change our mind. We ate lunches on the mountain and then instant ramen for dinner. Also they won't let you eat your food in the common areas. Beds ok for comfort. Farther up the mountain, but I suppose this leads to less crowds.
Great on-site onsen. Great location for ski-in, ski-out. Good storage facilities for skis. Ski school right next door. Free parking. We travelled with 2 small children, who loved it.
