How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The only let down for us was the small and uncomfortable beds.
The location for us was perfect, as our daughters flat is in Leith Street. The manager was extremely accommodating when we asked if we could change rooms due to the size of the beds being too small. My son had breakfast which was great. The bar staff were ver accommodating when my husband and son asked for the rugby to be shown on the tv.

Noisy, both from outside noise and internal. No option to change room temp made it difficult to sleep. Toilet was very low to the ground. Not good option for tall people. Surcharge on credit cards included debit cards. So expect additional 2% on everything unless you pay cash. Property is old and tired and in need of upgrading.
Plenty of parking.

Best bed I've slept in at a Motel, so comfortable and didn't wake up with sore back. Breakfast buffet was good but not very hot so by the time you are halfway through it was cold.

The lack of cutlery in the room I had fruit and there was no knife to cut these

There is a slight mildew smell throughout the hotel. The food at the restaurant was over-salted.
Dave, at the front desk, was extremely helpful answering our questions and giving us advice. We enjoyed our brief stay due to his suggestions!

Hallway was being vacuumed around 9am with housekeeping knocking on the door at 9.30am. I could’ve put the do not disturb sign out however as I was only staying one night and checking out within the next hour and half, I didn’t think it would be needed. Other than that, everything else with my stay was good.
Reception staff were amazing and very friendly. They were super helpful with luggage storage before check in and after check out, and sorting a later check out time. The hotel is right next to the botanic gardens which was nice, however it is a bit further out from town, but still walkable. Room was very spacious and clean.

Room not air conditioned at all, so could not adjust temperature of room at all. noisy highway beside our window so couldn’t open for fresh air. Narrow stairs- difficult to negotiate with heavy suitcase. No information about the local area in the room.
Location- easy to find & park.

Generally nice, only thing is it was very hot at night with no air-conditioning, only a fan in the room. I suggest installing screens to windows and balcony door so we can leave open at night and keep cool without insects, moths, and mosquitos flying in.
The room was big, bed was comfy, very clean, walking distance to university and restaurants, staff was friendly, and breakfast buffet with wide variety.

Bit of a walk into town if you dont have a car but that wasn’t an issue for me

Would be so good to have nice decor in room. A few little additions, like picture on the wall, flower arrangement.. just some colour in the room would make the room attractive to guests. Room only has bare essentials.
Breakfast was excellent. Staff were very friendly and polite.

Rooms were old and tired looking and a bit dark inside and the building inside looks like it needed a coat of paint to brighten it up.
