Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomJust on Abisko Ostra, there is one cafe (which was closed when I was there), but you have a supermarket. I debated a lot whether to stay in Ostra or Abisko Turiststation. Turiststation does have great food places, and start of trek, but the lake in Ostra is a great dark point to go see the lights and it's easy to walk between Ostra/Turiststation. On balance, I would recommend the Ostra for your stay.
Fantastic location, clean, and best value you can get in the area, especially for a private room. It is in central Abisko Ostra, couple of minutes walk from the station, supermarket - and you can get coffee at reception - and a 10 minute walk to the lake (you may see moose and it's a good dark place for the northern lights!) There is a great, flat path from Abisko Ostra to Abisko Turiststation, 30 mins walk max, and is lit, so can walk day or night.

QatarI arrived after 9pm. so supermarket was closed. Reception emailed instructions on how to get the key, but kitchen had white bread, salt, black tea, and tiny bit of olive oil, that's all. Luckily I had previously bought ramen packet n had my coffee powder so I was OK. Please be prepared that transport in Kiruna and Abisko is limited and unpredictable at times.Coop is in kiruna and one super market in Abisko, come prepared.Kitchen could have been better stocked, with the prices we pay, like milk , eggs or soup packet/noodles.
I took the private apartment and for a solo traveller it was very comfortable. Bed is less than double but firm, clean sheets provided. Windows with fantastic views all over, full kitchen, proximity to super market and mountain Lodge where I tried a cozy dinner. And outback tour company, dlthanks to front desk guy arranged a special Snowmobile tour off season since it is April.Best part,Windows open and views are breathtaking with a kitchen was perfect. They got naspresso machine and u can buy pods from reception. Reception has souvenirs and warm socks. A hike to STF hotel and u ll find jackets and warm base layers plus some expedition necessities with minimart if u need those.

FranceThe beds were a bit low and slightly uncomfortable. Heater was not working in one room. One staff was cold and snobbish. Also, no staff after 6 pm.
Kitchen was well equipped. Very close to Abisko ostra train station.

United KingdomWindowless, single bunkbed room was all that was available when booking - it was claustrophobic and not much room for luggage, a few more hooks would have been handy.
Location excellent for viewing Northern Lights and close to the train station and supermarket. Room, kitchen and bathroom were clean and to have a lounge/dining area was a relief given the size of our room.

United StatesSound insulation was not so good. We could hear the doors banging and slamming every time somebody went past, or entered the kitchen or bathrooms. This made sleeping difficult.
Great location: a short walk from train station, around the corner from the supermarket, and next to the lake. Staff were friendly. 3 person room had access to a big kitchen and comfortable communal area. Showers were always hot with good pressure. Beds comfortable. Souvenir store has a lot of variety.

MoldovaThe room was very small but taking into consideration that in Abisko it is very hard to find some kind of accomodation whatsoever, it was acceptable for one night
The location - perfect, near the frozen lake, close to the grocery store and the bus station. Very helpful staff, Lucas from reception - nice guy, gave us a lot of useful information! We took aurora hunting tour + dinner. The guide was nice, the polish guy Alex! He drove us about 150km from Abisko to Narvik and back to hunt for auroras but unfortunately no luck that night. But the sami style dinner in the tent was cool, we ate reindeer meet with vegetables. Would definitely return there but would choose a bigger room!

BelgiumThe windowless rooms are a little weird, but there is much more to explore outside than to look (out of a possible window). There is no wardrobe and space for luggage is almost inexistent.
It is almost a hostel, but guests are quiet and respectful for the place and the others.

NetherlandsWooden building creates noises when people walking. The bulk bed also creates noises even with a slight move, and it gives a falling-apart feeling when I climbed up and down. The hotel did not clean common spaces during the 5 day stay. Room very small, need to open the suitcase in the dining room.
Fully equipped kitchen. Close to supermarket. Luckily only shares common spaces with another room.

2 cozy "living rooms" with tables and a sofa to spend the time while waiting for Aurora lights. 2 kitchens with plenty of utensils to prepare various meals. The location is superb to start your Aurora hunt :)

AustraliaIt would be nice if the sauna was available for longer - a couple of hours in the evening (when you are there to look at the sky at night!) and a rule that you can’t use the sauna for 5 hours before you go out to look for the Aurora??? was very strange.
Really happy with our room - the kitchen, living area and bathroom being only shared between the two rooms of 2 people was a nice surprise.

GermanyThe guesthouse is not the cheapest option in Abisko, but if you want privacy and a convenient location it's better than the other accomodations. The room without window was small and simple and I would not recommend to stay there all day. Move to the common area instead or go outside to explore the beautiful landscape. :)
The room was equipped with everything needed but not more. There were a lot of bathrooms with toilets and showers and everything was very clean. The two kitchens and common rooms were very clean, spacious and equipped with everything you need. The location of the guesthouse is very good. It's only 200m from the Abisko Östra train station and 100m from the supermarket. The Abisko National Park and the lake can be reached with a bit of walking. The guesthouse offers a lot of activities if you want to explore the area in groups. The cheapest one is the sauna which I can definitely recommend. If the sky is clear you might be able to see the Northern Lights through the window while sitting in the sauna. It was a great experience!
