Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyEven though we had stated that we'd like a room with a view in the reservation process, we were placed in a room on the 2nd floor. The friendly receptionist made sure to move us to a room on the 6th floor which was slightly smaller than what we had expected. No water bottles on the rooms. Room service didn't return and made up the rooms after coming by once in the morning (around 10am) when we were still getting ready. Windows were quite dirty.
Location is good and just around the corner from the Empire State Building. Nice café downstairs with very good coffee. Friendly staff at the reception. Beds were comfortable.

Room was spacious enough by New York City standards, location is very convenient at the midtown part of Manhatten, bed was better than many hotels offer.

IrelandRoom was bigger than expected, especially for Manhattan. Great location, 2 mins walk from a subway stop, only a few blocks from the Empire State Building for reference. Means you’re central and feel in the heart of the city

BulgariaOur room was facing the street and it was quite noisy, next time we will request a quiet room.
The location is amazing - right next to the Empire State Building. Staff was friendly and welcoming. The room was bigger than we expected by the reviews on Booking - we had a big and comfortable bed + small but convenient closet. We had everything that we needed for a lovely 6-day stay. Great starting point to explore the city!

United KingdomOnly little thing we would have appreciated would be a kettle/ tea making facilities. A minor problem with some noisy neighbours while we were there but this is not the fault of the hotel
Very central location and friendly professional staff. It was great to use the gym too. Room was clean and comfortable. What happens re the security deposit? I see it is still pending deduction on my bank account?

United KingdomWhilst we were there, the Rooftop bar was not open ( we assume that’s quite seasonal). They were just in the process of changing their bar food menu so we didn’t eat in there. We ate in the NAO cafe but we found it to be very expensive )although the coffee is very nice and the cookies are amazing).
Location is key! Hotel is very central to pretty much everything in New York and very close to the Empire State Building, Grand Central Station, Vanderbilt one summit. Easy walk to Times Square and Broadway. Longer walk to Central Park but very doable! The hotel itself is quite ‘boutique’. Beds are huge and very comfortable. Actual room is not huge but neither is it too small. Staff are friendly. Bar is very well stocked.

SingaporeLack of breakfast option. Rooftop was also closed during our stay.
Location is perfect for exploring Manhattan on foot. We covered almost all the attractions without having to take the subway except on one day when we were heading to the financial district and Status of Liberty. Everything seems to be within a 30 min radius and the Empire State Building was just a stone’s throw away.

United KingdomOur room had 1 small window which didn't get much light so our room remained very dark during the day. We also had some damaged walls due to damp which wasn't covered or treated. The bed sheets were nice but the sheets didn't clip or zip together so sometimes I would wake up with the raw duvet on me which wasn't very hygienic
Bed was comfy and the location was perfect, easy to get everywhere in Manhattan

United StatesNot a ton of space to unpack in the room, but we’re pretty tidy by nature, so able to live out of our suitcases for the duration of our stay.
Comfortable bed, pillows and towels. Great location close to Midtown attractions, restaurants, and public transportation, but still quiet.

United StatesThe room is small - I rather have a smaller bed to have more space. The bed and pillows are not very comfy. AC makes loud noises. I can hear noise from other rooms.
Location is very convenient. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The lounge area seems to be comfy but I didn’t have time to spend there.

United KingdomBreakfast was due to start at 7am but the staff were late every day so it was always at least 30 minutes late, while we waited. The first day it was late, the ladies in the cafe were not helpful or apologetic at all and were clearly irritated, but on another day a very friendly man was working and super apologetic about the chef being late, which made a big difference. Reception staff were uninterested most of the time and occasionally abrupt. One guy on reception was friendly though. We had a leak in our ceiling which dripped all night when the rain was heavy. We reported it the next morning and were given a voucher for a free breakfast, and told it would be fixed while we were out. When we got back, it had just been dried and the bubbled plaster flaked off the ceiling and cleared up. It didn’t matter too much as there was no more rain forecast during our stay, but I don’t think they should have people in that room until it’s fixed properly. We noticed the ceiling when we first arrived so it’s clearly an ongoing thing. We booked the Queen Deluxe room as it was described as having bay windows - there were no bay windows. The room was fine but the pictures definitely made it look nicer than it was. Bathroom very basic and toilet seat chipped. It was incredibly noisy from the street all day and night. Normal for NYC but bear in mind if booking a room with windows. Website describes it as having continental breakfast but there is none, only the cafe.
Location, comfy beds, decor and style, good price for NYC, view from the room (Queen Deluxe). Others have commented on only 1 lift being a problem but we never waited long.
