Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesIt would have been nice to swap for a clean towel every day.
I love Seattle Chinatown; location is great. I like the no alcohol policy- it keeps things quiet and reasonable in the hostel.

Terrific location 1 block from Metro Link stop and many other transportation options very close by. Also close to tons of great Asian restaurants and a large Asian grocery. Safe location even at night. Well organized and run hostel. Strongest coffee I've had at any hostel!

ThailandThere are homeless or dangerous-looking people in a street not far away from the hotel. It would really help, if the hotel can inform me in advance about place and time I should avoid. (By the way, what wrong with these people! The city should solve the problem asap. They are so scary for a foreigner like me.)
The transportation is good. The location within Chinatown makes it is easy find food.

GermanyRooms are bit basic and rooms/hostel in general are a bit outlifed. The area upfront is a bit scatchy.
Clean kitchen and bathroom, nice common rooms, complementary breakfast and coffee all day. Friendly staff, central location (train station and stadium very close)

United StatesLack of air conditioning was a bit of a problem. Staff provided fans to help with the heat but it was a little tough to get adjusted.
Staff was really friendly and super accommodating for my circumstances. Location was fantastic. Lots of great places to eat as well as proximity to the train. Facilities were well maintained and had nice amenities.

CanadaIt’s a hostel, and provides everything that a hostel should. We booked a private room (bunk beds; private bathroom), and were happy with our decision. Seattle is expensive, so the hostel is an economical option.

GermanyThere are a lot of homeless people in this area. My friend and I didn‘t feel safe outside the hostel, especially after our car was vandalized by someone. We parked next to the hostel on the public parking lot.
Space needle, Pike place, Pioneer Square, etc. is pretty close and you can just walk to see everything.

CanadaWish the reception was on the first floor. A schlep if you have lots of bags!
I even went with my two kids (9 and 11) who were terrified at the place since it is a hostel and not a hotel. But after a night and after understanding the DIY of what a hostel was about, they warmed up to it. Good and clean shared bathroom, shower and kitchen facilities. Staff was marvellous, lending me a stick of butter at breakfast (thanks again, miss!). Very nicely located in the heart of Chinatown and a very good community vibe! Highly recommended if you can hack the hostel vibe. Decent place for a decent price.

United StatesIt was an older building and the rooms could use a little more TLC...but...
First time for my daughter and I to stay in a hostel. Management went out of their way to ensure we had a room with 2 bunk beds so neither of us had to use a top bunk. The location in the International District had good restaurants and we were impressed with the hostel's kitchen, laundry, and gathering rooms. The room was pretty basic, but we both enjoyed a good night of sleep. The shared bathrooms were basically very clean.

United StatesI initially had a room mate who was eating in the dorm and slovenly leaving her clothes all over. At one point she had dropped a whole bag of potato chips on the floor and informed me and another guest, "I'll pick them up later" as she turned over in her bunk and went back to sleep. I informed staff and the guest was moved to another floor. My wish is that you keep records of such behavior and/or remind such guests about their behavior the next time they book.
I love the fact that the kitchen was open 24 hours because I could inform other guest to please head there after "curfew" when they were disruptive in the hallways talking. I think that it would be a great idea to place signs on each dorm that say, Please Be Mindful of Others sleeping after curfew by closing your door gently.
