The parking lot was scary. The bathrooms were too small. Every single one of us (people of 11; 3 rooms) hit their head with the shelf under the mirror in the bathroom while washing our faces. There were lizards in two of the rooms out of three. The pathways smelled bad. My guess is that its the wet carpet.

Location was great. The facility was upgraded and I liked the hotel as a whole. Complimentary bikes for cycling around was commendable. Staff was friendly. Light music in the lobby was great. Swimming pool, common room were outstanding options in the hotel. The green spaces were very well maintained. Deserves a five star.

The hotel rooms need to be refurbished. Everything is okay, but it is not luxury.

The location is right next to the airport in Hilo. Wonderful access to our helicopter ride above the volcanos. It is next to a great restaurant - the Coconut Grill. The Buddha next to the pool is charming.

Walking by rooms and seeing in. No privacy for each other. Louved windows meant hearing conversations as others walked by or stood outside our corner room talking.

Being close to the airport has its pros and cons. To us, it was an advantage since we were tired. They had a noise machine which was perfect to conceal any noise from planes. Room is clean and a Japanese style toilet was a huge plus. No microwave in the room but they have a common area to use it. Coffee and tea station is available all day. Front desk team was very nice.

SCP is a wonderful hotel with a natural and sustainable vibe as soon as you walk in. The rooms are comfortable, the staff are incredibly kind, friendly and accommodating, and it’s close to the water, coffee roasters, diners and restaurants! The pool is pristine, with toys for the kids to use and fresh pool towels that are changed over often. The gardens are gorgeous and really set the island tone. We are travelling with our 18 month old and this place is just perfect for young families! Highly recommend staying here if you’re in Hilo.

We had some small bugs crawling around the TV area and shower. Ants or gnats maybe? Not ideal, but we appreciate Hilo is essentially in a tropical rainforest so keeping all the bugs out must be a chore. The room was maybe a little on the expensive side as well, but nothing on the Hawaiian islands is cheap!

Perfect for a short stay if you’re heading to the volcano. It’s a long drive from Kona to see the volcano and waterfalls in a day - staying here was a perfect stop off hotel to make the short drive to the volcano the next morning. Pool was super nice and the bed was comfy. The view of the koi pond was enjoyable too. Overall we enjoyed our stay :)

The landscape inside the hotel is very beautiful, It is also close to the airport. I also liked hearing the lady singing in the lobby when we arrived at the hotel, it seemed very welcoming to me.

Bathtub stains, old look bathtub. probably is the least cool thing in the room. and sound proof is a bit weak, it's a concern if you meet some other guest which love to turn on TV all day all night. :(

ALOHA Favourite place, definitely lobby/reception area. always feel chill. The main entrance of the hotel is lovely design and has this special atmosphere/good vibes. There's a refillable water station in lobby(don't forget to bring your own water bottle) free coffee (nice one) and tea all day. free bike rental etc.. (check the website) The room is good size, bed is comfortable and the shower is equipped with nice shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hand soap and body lotion. (large size ) there's a mini fridge and a tv and working desk. The best part of the room is design, you will fell happy when you open the door, nice art pieces and furniture, wooden ceiling fan. Friendly staffs. :)

When we first got there, there were hairs all over the shower and it seemed like it hadn’t been cleaned. We brought this up and they cleaned it first thing the next morning! Otherwise things were great.

The amenities were lovely. The pool was gorgeous and they had delicious fresh coffee at all times. They also had free paddle boards we could borrow! All in all a great stay.

Check-in was not so good. We were given a room in the older wing, at the back of the property, far from the limited parking. When I asked for a room closer to the front, so as not to schlep everything so far, I was told there was no other room available. It turned out that the building our room was in was next to the main thoroughfare, with heavy traffic starting at 4 am. People were talking loudly outside our room at 11:30 pm, waking me up. Needless to say, I did not get a good night's sleep. The next morning a different desk clerk was very understanding and moved us to a room in the peaceful building, which was perfect!

The pool was lovely and we enjoyed the meditation garden outside our room in the peaceful section. Also the amenities in the room to help one relax, such as the meditative music and diffuser. We also took advantage of the free use of a paddle board, which was fun.
